We will be there for 4 days in May doing college tours, staying in Georgetown. With both kids but they are older so don’t need super family friendly. We love good food/nicer restaurants. Any recs?
Red Hen for excellent Italian Maydan for creative Middle Eastern Daru or Rasika (Penn Quarter) for Indian Daikaya for ramen Anju for Korean Red Apron for burgers Martha Dear for sourdough pizza
The DC food scene changes so quickly, I won't even pretend I'm up on it since I'm out in the burbs. I think you can't go wrong w/Jose Andres restaurants (Zaytina was my fav' Jaleo is great too). Rasika is fantastic and closer to G town since it's foggy bottom area, and people still seem to love Le Diplomate. If you could get into Rose's Luxury, go for it
I don't eat in DC much, but my H and I went to The Duck and the Peach for our anniversary this year and it was really good and the service was excellent too. It's near Eastern Market. Le Diplomat is a classic and is also very good. If you need something close to the mall, I've also had good experiences at Jaleo and Old Ebbit's Grill.
ETA: I totally skipped over the Georgetown part, unfortunately I'm not familiar with that area at all.
I've been to L'Avante Garde (French, a little pricey) and the Sovereign (Belgian, less pricey) recently both in Georgetown and they were both delicious!
Fiola Mare has pretty views and seafood, definitely pricey.
There are a couple of restaurants by the waterfront that are a little cheaper.
If you need fast casual but want it to be non chain AND really like tea, Teaism is delightful. I love their chai tea. And I recently had lunch there (DuPont location) & it was just as delicious as I remembered
I also really like Ambar (Balkan small plates). Ditto Jose Andres restaurants
None of these are in Georgetown though but might be helpful if you’re exploring around. We did do a ghost tour that started in Georgetown a few years ago & it was fun if you’re interested in spooky & aren’t too tired at night
I think Old Ebbitt Grill ticks a lot of boxes. The food is solid and somewhat affordable compared to some of the other recommendations and very DC-vibe.
