Hooray for Friday!! 3 school days counting today for my kids. DS1 is in his last final for his freshman year. He will be so happy once that is over and it's first block so he gets it over with right away. Just found out yesterday that DH is going back to Mexico next week, so he will miss last day of school stuff. I can manage it all, but he hates to miss the big days and when they come home the last day he always runs and picks them up and runs them around hollering and the kids just love it so much. Track practice, a 5K, and DS2's bday party are on the agenda this weekend. What's everyone else up to?

I am going to AZ to see my dad/brother for the first time in two years tonight. Just me, I am a bit uneasy about it because the visits are never pure happiness. But hopefully it will go okay. EXCEPT I have had a very sore throat going on 7 days now and I am over it. Strep negative and been to the dr 800 times. They did lab work yesterday so we shall see if it shows anything
I set my alarm a little early this morning because I had something to do before work. I very rarely remember dreaming, but the alarm went off in the middle of one and ... oof. I am much happier not knowing what goes on in my subconscious.
H and DS might go to a big flea market this weekend, but I can't bc DD has a swim meet. Warm up is 6am and then she will have finals at 5pm. Both days. I'm tired just thinking about it. I'm sure she will kill it and have fun (and I get to see my friends) but it's just a lot.
I am having my hysterectomy on Monday. I don't feel mentally prepared, but do you ever?
My son's play last night was great. I've never seen Annie before, I have to watch it now! The sound was perfect, the sets were amazing. I was not expecting them to have a usable 2nd story. The leads switch on the 2nd day and I would not want to follow the girl who played Mrs. Hannigan. She was absolutely amazing!
My son said he is trying out for a singing role next year. I'm excited for him. He's gotten so much more confident on stage. He's so clear and delivers his lines well. I wish they did 2 shows a year. (No, no I don't.) LOL
Today is my last full Friday of work until after Labor Day. I love summer hours.
My MIL is visiting this weekend. I'm really glad, as she doesn't visit much and my kids have been missing her. She will need to keep up with our crazy soccer schedule on Sunday: we have 3 games and MH and I are the coaches.
I'm really looking forward to next weekend where we have nothing planned. I just want to loaf!

I've got a couple little things left to do before I leave early Sunday morning. Mainly I need to do laundry because I don't have enough socks and underwear. I'm looking forward to a pedi Saturday.
Yesterday our ERP system was up and down most of the day. Thankfully my boss let me go run errands and get my nails done, then I did the work I needed to last night after the system came back up.
DS was losing his mind this morning over allergies. He was sneezing and sniffling, and he doesn't really understand yet how to blow his nose so he just kinda freaks out that he can't breathe out of it. I've suspected he might have some allergies (I'm allergic to a lot of seasonal stuff, plus cats/dogs). He had kind of an episode Saturday night at my in-laws also where he got very stuffy too and upset, and I had to pick him up. Anyway, we were at the grocery store down the street at 7:40AM buying chewable grape Claritin and a donut to improve his mood, lol. We only have 4.5 days left of school, and today is their end of marking period celebration that he was looking forward to, so I hope the meds kick in and he feels a little better.
We don't really have any plans tonight or tomorrow aside from a baseball game at 2pm. We might take our boat out on Sunday for the first time as it's finally supposed to be not raining. Need to get some practice launching it again before Memorial Day weekend craziness.

I checked my dryer last night after watching a video about how to switch the door, and sadly it is confirmed that I cannot switch, the screw holes aren't the same on both sides.
Also, on the topic of another thread, MIL gave L a little sweatsuit outfit with dinosaurs on it for his birthday. It was only after I mentioned to her that he'd worn it to school that she told me it was pijamas. But he already has it in his mind as daytime clothes (and honestly that's how it looks), so today I sent my kid to school in pijamas for the second time this week because he wore the same, very identifiable outfit on Tues. This is not a battle I am going to fight.
We got our beagle last year when she was four from the sister of an elderly man who was very ill. We never got to talk to him about her.
He trained her to do a couple things. One is very helpful—whenever she sees us eating, she puts herself to bed and leaves us alone.
The second is I think to avoid her jumping on you (good!) but what she does when she wants to be petted is just sit on the floor. You will be walking and suddenly there is a beagle sitting in front of you wagging her tail. She is very good at anticipating your route.
Today she did this in the doorway, we did a lot of petting and then she did it again, this time horizontally across the doorway so we had to have a second petting session before I could get into the kitchen to let them outside! What kind of bossy beagle behavior is this?
She also flops over like a sack of potatoes or hides behind a tree when we want her to come inside but surely he didn’t train her to do that!
OMG scm1011! Is there anyway the school can get the class checked? Someone must just be letting it go and spreading it.
Just got back from a nice 2 mile walk with the dog after getting E on the bus. I have a couple errands to run. Then she wants me to pick her up from school so she can go spend some birthday money.
DD's band concert last night was so great. It was held in the HS gym; round tables for 10 with table clothes and chairs filled the floor with a few stands peppered throughout that held up string lights. There was a table with desserts for everyone. Six different Jazz groups played (3 HS, 3 MS - two from DD's school). At the end, they recognized the graduating seniors, and then all six bands played a song together, even though they'd only practiced it maybe once and never together. Man I love our band program!!
I have a cheap-o Insignia Fire TV in my WFH "office" that I play as background throughout the day. I've been re-rewatching CSI on Hulu. I'm up to Season 12. In the last week, I've started having issues wiht ONLY the Hulu app. I'll be watching an episode, and it will kind of blink out and restart to the Home Screen. I don't have this issue with any other app on this TV. I don't have this issue with Hulu on any other tv in the house (Apple TV box and Firestick). I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app. I'm super annoyed and open to any advice from anyone who might have gone through the same thing.

The last two weeks have been nonstop work events for me. Last night I got to be home for the first time in 10 days, and my body felt ready to shut down. But now this weekend we are back to busy and events and non-stop. The 100 days of May.
OMG scm1011 ! Is there anyway the school can get the class checked? Someone must just be letting it go and spreading it.
I've talked to the admin/nurse ad nauseum. They can check but they cannot send kids home/prevent them coming from coming in with lice. We have a large low-income population and I'm guessing the $30 Nix treatments are out of reach for many families. Or people are just being negligent. I did a treatment on DD this morning and then at drop off I saw lice in one of her classmates hair so it feels like a losing battle until school ends.
I have calls out to the Lice Aunties but I'm not sure its worth throwing $240 per person at the problem when we'll all just be reinfected again. I'm literally going crazy.

Today I’m headed to DD’s school twice for different end of year activities. Then I have a project to finish up before the weekend. I’ve been majorly slacking at work lately and I need to pick it up again. I really work best with a little bit of stress, but this is a slower time, so of course I get nothing done.

The kittens have a vet appointment today for their next round of vaccines. I can't believe that they are already 12 weeks old. We have fully integrated the cats and dogs and they are living mostly peacefully. The one dog is still afraid of them, one dog (the one we were worried might see them as prey) only wants to play, and the one dog is mostly just curious.

TGIF! I leave for a work conference on Sunday afternoon and will be back Wednesday evening just in time for DD's final band concert of the school year. DS has a baseball tournament this weekend, so I am planning to pack on Saturday night (thankfully his Saturday games are late morning and early afternoon).
MIL never fails to surprise me with her weirdness. She sent us a thank you note for her Mother's Day gift, and signed it "Love, [First Name]." Not "Mom / Grandma." She's a strange one. I showed the card to DH, and he just laughed and shook his head. Also, MIL has been hounding him on text and keeps trying to call him to confirm DS's baseball game times for tomorrow, which he sent in text. I don't know what she does with her phone, if she deletes every text she gets, and doesn't write important things down from texts before deleting them, but she continues to fail to realize that DH is not her calendar keeper and is not responsible to remind her of things.

I've had a similar problem with Hulu on my Sony Android TV. I would be able to watch 1 episode on Hulu, and then need to reboot the TV to watch the next. For me, the fix was an update to the TV itself. Auto-updates was disabled in the TV settings (not sure if that was something I did or if that was the default).
Our kids' pediatrician moved last year - she'd seen the girls pretty much their whole lives and we all loved her so much. DD2 tx to another Dr. pretty seamlessly but DD1 has had trouble. She didn't click with who she was assigned to and we had some differences in opinion when it came to medication for possible mental health issues. I tried to get her into my GP, since she's almost 18, but she is on maternity leave and the other Dr. is leaving the practice. After much running around I've circled back to the ped and she's going to see a new Dr. there.
This entire thing has been a circus. I've 100% handled the kids' medical needs for their entire lives (DD2 esp. has very involved and frequent needs) which is fine, as I am a SAHM. I am very familiar with the paperwork, the waiting, the specialists, the backlogs, the turnover etc. I know DH is trying to be helpful and he is a total type A, but he keep making suggestions and asking me if I've tried things when he really has no clue how things work and how frustrating theses processes can be, ep. when it comes to certain medication classes, dosage, availability and prescription numbers. The white-hot deep-seated anger that I am feeling is unnerving. He's not being negative or condescending about it at all, it's just 17 years of my own frustration boiling over.
dochas - we did Annie my freshman year in high school and it was so fun!
gummybear - I feel rage when someone comes in to a project or task I've been working on and starts questioning me so I can't imagine how it feels for someone to come in 17 YEARS late and doing it.
We are leaving for Morocco tonight! Crazy that this time tomorrow we will be there. I'm so excited. I think it's going to be a really unique and fun trip. Also looking forward to getting away with my H.
I am NOT looking forward to the flight, but hopefully it won't be too bad. It's only about 8 hours, but my last 8 hour flight was less than 2 months ago and I felt nauseous and uncomfortable the entire flight back, so I think that's making me dread this one. I never love flying but it's not usually as much torture as that was, so I'm sure I'll be fine tonight.
I have a lot to do before we leave here at 4 but I haven't done any of it yet - whoops. Most of what I have to do for work can easily wait until I get back, but I also need to get the house ready for the dog sitter!

I was in my high school's production of Annie my sophomore year. It was the best! We even had a real dog play Sandy. We had dog auditions and everything.

I have calls out to the Lice Aunties but I'm not sure its worth throwing $240 per person at the problem when we'll all just be reinfected again. I'm literally going crazy.
It's worth it! I think they will guarantee their work for several months and you can go back and get free checks. Ours was head hunters. Also, they only charge $20 for a head check. Also when my DD had it, my DS and I did not. So strange. I guess lice only likes certain heads. My DH was gone for business (all the way to middle east) and he did not like that I spent $300 and I was like worth every single penny.
We have a quiet weekend ahead. Last night I had ice cream for dinner and it was so fun to mix it up and do something different. The trader joes ice cream sandwiches with the mini chips was divine and I also had a mini ice cream cone from them and their cookie butter ice cream.
DS is volunteering in hospice this summer since he's in pre med in college and I so want to hear all about it. So far, he's been quiet about it but says it's rewarding and he's already sitting with patients. Both our kids are working in summer camps with little kids this summer too. Impressed with their patience.

I wonder if you have a super lice variety that is resistant to Nix and other treatments.

So excited for you, can't wait to hear about Morocco. Lucky! We flew to South Africa last summer and that was my longest flight. 15 hours. Surprisingly I slept fine on the plane and I usually don't.
I found lice on DD again this morning. We just had it 2 weeks ago and countless times this school year. I'm about to check myself into an asylum.
Oh no!! Have you tried a professional nitpicker yet? I *thought* DD might have it a few months ago and I panicked and brought her in to someone. She didn't have it but they showed me their whole process and they guarantee their work if the lice return.

We had a professional come to the house the first time my kids had lice and it was expensive but I don't regret a cent of it. Seriously the best money I've ever spent.
She also painstakingly taught me how to do effective combouts, calmed my nerves, and explained what was and wasn't necessary to treat in our house.
