how hard would it be to take the velcro off a strap like this (not the same shoe, but same idea) and move it? the strap is too long to fasten tightly on DD and I'm trying to figure out how hard it would be to shorten it. Thoughts?
I'd say it is pretty easy. I don't think you want to sew through the leather on top, but you could sew the velcro to the lining fabric pretty easily. That way it won't show on the top either.
Ooh, I'm not sure I'd cut the strap. Do you have a sewing machine that can sew through leather to redo the stitching on the end? If not, it won't look good and the side stitching may unravel. And yeah, you probably could just glue in some velcro where you need it which will be easier than sewing (although sewing in a new piece will probably hold up better to repeated uses).

If you're not used to sewing, making it look good will be very hard. You would be better off taking them to a good shoe repair place. They'll be able to handle the velcro and shorten the strap and re-stitch the end so it looks polished.
