Hi ladies - I'm an old nestie who doesn't post much on the national boards, but I'm hoping you can help me out. I currently have a 401K with not much in it (like under $2K). I'm starting a new job next week, but it's a temporary position that may or may not turn permanent. They do not offer 401K, but if it becomes permanent, I can open a 403b.
So - what do I do with that money now? I'm really clueless when it comes to this stuff, so any advice, guidance, or information would be greatly appreciated.
I would roll it into an IRA. What firm is it with now? If you are happy with their service, just call their customer service and they will be happy to walk you through opening up an IRA.
I would also do an IRA. Most companies will help you identify a place to invest the funds - the flexibility of an IRA allows you to be as high or low risk as you like, which is great, but the options can be overwhelming. I'd start with your current firm and see how you feel about their service.
