OK, I'm a little annoyed that by the time it opens, I'll be 33. I feel like that's maybe too late to have a houseful of inexpensive birchwood furniture.

Ikea overwhelms me. I know it will be nice to have it near by for kids' stuff and storage furniture, but I hate having to actually walk the whole store.

KC IKEA, where were you 10 years ago?
I won't be too old until my children are grown! We bought a new couch a few weeks ago and I want everyone to sit on the floor for fear of ruining it, even though I got the protection plan.

This is true. And it will be soooo nice to have an alternative to Nebraska Furniture Mart for kids bunk beds, etc.
Hmmmm..... ::rubs hands together like Mr. Smithers::
I was so high with adrenaline for days, I blame that for my ridiculous 20 minute Target shopping spree 3 days PP.
I seriously thought they were joking on the news this morning. I was up before 6 and Curtis and Jao Jao were talking about it and I was like "why are they playing such a mean joke on me this early in the day?"
I can now procrastinate some house projects for 2 years til Ikea is available to provide me with storage/organization goodies
Meeeee, neither. I hated to burst DH's bubble: he was SO excited that he'd get to check it out. I bought some furniture there many years ago when I was a resident and had a less than stellar experience...I may or may not have totally rained on his parade.

I will now forever hold a grudge against them at this point. I do not forget. lol.

Oh, me too! We now have an NFM 'all's well that ends well' story from this summer b/c he did not want to take my word for it and insisted I give them another chance. He was this close to getting a big 'I told you so!' from me. He's not a big fan now, either.
my ILs had the right couch in the wrong color delivered from NFM, and all the tables were scratched. Took months to get the right things and then the couch cracked after a year and NFM wanted to charge a shitload for their to pick it up and bring it in for the repair (that part was covered by the manufacturer).
Only thing we have from NFM is a mattress and had no issues with that but it's pretty hard to fuck up a mattress.
We furnished our newlywed apartment with Ikea furniture over 6 years ago and much of it is still going strong, esp. the pieces we spent more money on, like our dining table and our dresser. I am most excited about all the organization stuff. If I can't have Container Store, IKEA is the next best thing
