-shoes in different colors/different texture leathers -purses in different prints/slightly different hardware -cardigans -solid tees (obv ok)
The shoes I am on the fence about. I am getting a new pair, but they are the same style/line as 2 other pairs. Each has different leather, and is a different color. They are so comfy, though!
Pretty much everything in my wardrobe has at least a twin in a different color. Even those baublebar earrings I posted in the random thread. I've got them in 3 colors :-p
Finding clothes is already nearly impossible for me. When something works, I beat it into the ground.
I am so happy to hear that so many of you do this haha. I don't consider myself a fashionable person and just wear what I like to wear. I get a lot of my clothes from VS just because they seem to fit nicely. So I'll get one to try it out and if i like it then I'll get one in another color when it goes on sale. I've got quite a few in two different colors and what's funny is just before I sat down on the computer and saw this post, I looked down at my shirt and thought "I really really like this shirt. I wonder if they still have it in black". HAHA.
I think it's fine, depending on what it is at least. I have 4 long necklaces in different colors with similar bead patterns, for example. They go with different outfits because they are different colored!
I have been known for buying multiples of solid color shirts. Not so much patterns or more statement shirts.
I have a lot of shirts from Express that I love and have them in 2-3 colors. My rule is to try to only wear 1 style every 2 weeks. If anyone noticed, they have never commented. If it is a style that looks good on you, go for it.

I do this with sweaters. I always try to dress them different. I usually buy a color and a black/neutral one. Black I wear with jeans, colored ones I wear with black/brown dress pants.
I'm lucky if my coworker wears something other than a gray on most days, I doubt he notices.
For basics I think this is totally fine. I buy the same tshirt and tank in multiple colors all the time. And when I find jeans that work, I'll buy 2... Sometimes I'll do different washes if available but other times I don't care if they're the same. And of course underwear and bras.
I try not to do this with other things because I end up with a ton of matching basics and not much with patterns or that stand out, so I try to be conscious of that while shopping.
I do this but I do it so things will last longer. When one gets worn to the ground I have another (exact same color/style) ready to take its place in the rotation.
I have Patagonia Maha flats in 4 different colors/styles. Three were bought in same purchase because they were on sale and I love them. I frequently get duplicates too.
Also from your other post, I have at least 4 pairs of regularly worn flip flops and I'll probably get another pair or two this year. I blame growing up in Florida. I still wear them here in Massachusetts whenever I can get away with it in the winter.
I'm guilty of this and have been for as long as I can remember. My mother does it as well so maybe its in my DNA. Only one person has ever called me out on it; my assistant. Or my ex-assistant. I didn't fire her for this specifically but it definitely contributed.

I'm fashion stupid, but I do this, and I don't notice it at all when other people do (and I therefore assume that no one notices when I do). I don't do more than 2 of the same item unless it's something basic. I try to spread out the wearing of it a bit so it's not so obvious, either, and if it's a dress or something I might do one patterned and one solid. I'm a cheapskate, though, so almost all of my clothes come from the sales rack and the styles are limited there.
