I'm currently reading Crossing to Safety by Wallace Stegner and I absolutely LOVE this book. Never thought I would, but in my opinion the writing is so darn captivating.
Not H & F at all.. Montessori in the Classroom. It's written by a Montessori teacher in the 3-6 year old age group. It's an interessing account of how Montessori classrooms work.
I'm only reading this because I'm in a Montessori teaching training course.
Listening to: "Brava, Valentine" by Adriana Triginai
I have been struggling through Defending Jacob, mostly because I don't really set aside time to sit down and read. It's really interesting but I'm not a huge courtroom/mystery fan.
I just started Brava Valentine today and only because I got a huge plethora of audiobooks in preparation of my roadtrip next week. Triginai's books have been good, light car reads in the past, and this is the 2nd of the Valentine trilogy.
'Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body. But rather, to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, screaming 'Woohoo! What a ride!' So every day is a holiday and every meal a feast."
Right now I'm working on Pillars of the Earth (*so close* to finished). Not sure what I will tackle next, this one has taken a while
What did you think of it? This one and The Poisonwood Bible sit side by side on my bookshelf. I've picked them both up so many times and just can't get into either one, but everyone I know raves about them both.
I loooved Pillars of the Earth and the sequel, World Without End. I had pretty low expectations since I'm not usually a fan of those types of books but they were amazing. I highly recommend them.
I'm reading a Michael Connelly thriller right now. Love reading all the recs!

Johanna Linsey's romance books in the Mallory series. I like my reading mindless
Also Jack Daniel's Running Formula
And sadlebred one summer I was traveling a lot and so removed from news and current events. I also read just about all the Tom Clancy book in 9 weeks and I happened to hear the news one night that said something about President Bush and I remember it taking me a good five minutes to figure out that the US President was in fact Bush and not Jack Ryan.

I enjoyed Pillars of the Earth, but the sequel, World Without End, was kind of more of the same and I got a bit bored (they are quite long!).
The books I just started, Fall of Giants and Name of the Star, are okay so far; hopefully they will pick up soon.
I like Hunger Games a lot, and I loved the Millennium trilogy (Girl with the Dragon Tattoo).
This! I just finished the last of the Millennium books so now I am reading a Stuart Woods novel, Severe Unclear.
H&F - I just end finished My Beef with Meat.
What did you think of my beef with meat? It drove me crazy that he didn't include many citations, just threw out claims without giving any indication what the study was like. Plus his whole "there is no Mediterranean diet so avoid olive oil" seemed to fly in the face of a whole bunch of evidence.
I hate starting a trilogies/series before all of the books have been written and released. I'm going to have to wait YEARS for the next Fire & Ice book. And all of those others on my list are incomplete trilogies. Ugh.
I chained GRRM to his desk so he finishes the next 2 books before he dies. His only allowed breaks are to watch NFL games (he's a huge football fan) and to have 1 really big meal/week. Otherwise he gets warm water and stale bread. Write faster!
He was on the loose last weekend, you're slacking.
Just finished "The Other Boleyn Girl" (liked it a lot) and starting "David Copperfield." I've always loved Dickens but somehow never got to this one... it's great. I actually can't wait to get to bed to do some reading! Also making my way through the "Total Immersion" book.
H&F - Skinny Rules - Excellent breakdown with great supportive facts and not at all dry, outlines how to eat to get and stay thin. I'm looking for a little support on the last 10-15lbs and maintenance.
Non H&F - The Silent Girl (Tess Gerritsen) I've been reading her books forever, but she wrote the books that inspired the Rizolli and Isles show on TBS. She's a great author.

I was not overly impressed with My beef with Meat. It was ok and I liked a bunch of the recipes (Walnut sauce/dressing = yum). The China Study also says no oil, because it's considered processed. No not many citations, you're right. I did not read Engine 2 Diet though so I can't compare.
