So even though this is horribly disgusting, where do we draw the line? An 11yr old boy going into the women's restroom is kind of weird. And I would not feel comfortable with my 11yr old daughter being towed into the men's room either..

I think at the 10-15 age range, parents might not bring in the kids to the restroom, but the parents should wait outside the restroom. In the case of the 11 year old, if a parent was just outside the doors there could have been a slightly quicker response. If I had been the mom, I might have even stuck my head inside really quick to "survey" the men's room before letting an 11 boy inside (depending on maturity and size of the kid).

So glad there was an employee who intervened. I can't even imagine how frightened that boy must have been.
I think 11 years old is definitely old enough to go into the bathroom by yourself. But I would still probably stand right outside the door. Personally, I think 7 or 8 is when I'll feel more comfortable letting DD go into a restroom by herself, but there are some places where I feel okay now at 6 years old.
Although at our gym they say kids 6 and older should use the appropriate changing room. DD goes to swim lesson there and DH is the one who usually takes her. I would not feel comfortable having her go into the locker room and get shower/changed on her own.

It sounds like the kid separated from his family to use the bathroom? I agree 11 feels a little old to be bringing into a bathroom of the opposite sex, but I probably would have gone with my DS and then waited outside the entrance to the bathroom. I'm assuming the man saw an unattended minor and decided that was an easy target...
