i think. i checked my mail yesterday and i got a ticket for negligent driving. the cop didn't even talk to me or ask my side. my hair is listed as blonde and it says that i weight a different weight that is on my license (so i'm annoyed because the guy didn't even copy my info correctly). the policeman only gave me this piece of paper that was an official exchange of information. said nothing about anything else and didn't ask my side and when i tried to offer it he basically said bye.
the manager of the other driver told that driver to go inside and not talk to us.. this isa fter that driver told me how sorry he was and that he thought i saw him.. nope i didn't.
anyway, i think i need a lawyer because this is defnitely not my fault. the police didn't even want to come and i called 2x to get them to come out.. and then they didn't even talk to me.. but i saw them talking to the manager of the other company the whole time..
anyone have any recs? i'm going on vacationg but i need to go to the police station and talk to them about it.. it's so crazy. i just can't believe any of this.. i was in a parking lot, minding my own business.. driving 10mph, and i got the ticket.. when a box truck backed into me when i was in teh right of way. i'm just not sure and the law freaks me out.

I'm guessing your insurance company got involved with the claim? Was there any sort of determination of fault through that? I'd contact your insurance agent and just talk to them a bit too. Then I'd contest the ticket and see about an attorney. But I agree there likely isn't any reason to talk to the police.
Can a ticket be thrown out if the cop wrote down wrong info? Like if they said the car was a 2006 when it's a 2010?
Nope.
My dad got a speeding ticket and the cop wrote down the wrong car description. My dad went to court to contest it and the judge didn't even reduce the ticket.
I have an attorney in Auburn that I have used several times to fight tickets. He can most likely very easily get this ticket dropped for you. 99% of the time there is an error on a ticket because police officers are careless when they write them. If there are errors, it can usually be dropped. Personally, even if the attorney fee is higher than the ticket, I would pay it because he will get the ticket dropped and it won't be on your driving record.
This man is very good! He has fought many tickets for me and won all of them! It's also a family office. The receptionist/paralegal is his wife and she is super sweet. You can tell them I referred you. But you will need to use my maiden name. FB me if you need it.
when i talked to my insurance, they said that the police man should have talked to me and asked my side, which he didn't. so they suggested i go down and ask what the proof is and why i was given a ticket via mail but never told about it on the scene. and how he determined fault when he wasn't there and never talked to both parties. they also suggested i go and give them a statement if they're willing to add some sort of supplement to the original paperwork.. i have NO idea how this works, i just don't want to go to court and not be prepared.. i also know in my heart this isn't my fault and it is making me sad. my insurance thinks it's the other company's fault but the other company and insurance company aren't taking any liability so my insurance is going after them. since it was taking so long, i have paid my deductible and if they can get money back, i'll get everything i paid back. so hopefully that will happen soon.
in the meantime, i need to worry about this and buying a new car.. and life. it's just exhausting and i want it to be over.
jennuinne- it says i have until the 16th to respond.. should i do so now?
