So, I ordered some very cute tall boots at a discount, and they fit, except the fact that I can't quite zip them up. I could return them, of course, but considering the deal I got, I was thinking of trying to stretch them myself (which I read about various places, including here: www.ehow.com/how_2299835_stretch-shoes-using-alcohol.html) I was just wondering if anyone had experience with this and if they wanted to share. Thanks!
Could you post a picture of the boots? I took a pair of boots into a guy I've been going to for years and he told me that based on where the seams were on the shaft of the boot and the type of leather, he would be afraid to really stretch the boot because it could also undo the stitching at the seams.
Looking at those pictures, I'd be afraid to stretch them myself. I'd take them to a shoe cobbler and get a second opinion on whether they think it's a good idea with the seam placement.
I had some stretched at macys , where I bought them. They totally ruined then and then tried to refuse to let me return them because they were damaged... so I haven't had a great experience.

I stick to my Cobbler for boot stretching. If you take them to one they will let you know how much stretching can be done. It usually takes a couple of days, but doesn't cost too much. I'd get an estimate and go from there.
I've gotten boots stretched professionally through Nordstrom and they came out beautifully. They didn't over-stretch. I say take the boots to a cobbler and see what can be done.
Isn't there any way you can force them on? If you wear them for a bit they should stretch out by themselves
I did have that thought. I can get them zipped about 3/4 of the way. Perhaps I should wear them around the house like that for a bit and see if they loosen up and I can zip them the rest of the way. I just need a tiny bit more give!
