On my commute this morning, I saw several women wearing dark tights with light colored shoes. One women wore a great red trench, black skirt, black tights and beige shoes. Another wore a charcoal grey sweater dress with charcoal grey tights and tan shoes. In both cases the shoes were all wrong. They had created a long lean look with the tights matching their skirt/dress and then blew it with the light colored shoes. The light colored shoes made their legs look stumpy. These are two example but I saw a lot more wormen doing this.

I agree it usually looks weird. I don't mind it so much if the shoe is a brighter/lighter pop of color, but when it's a light neutral, I don't think it works.
In general I like my shoes to match my tights, however, I bought navy tights so I could wear them with these cognac colored oxfords I have. I loved the look.
It has the potential to go very wrong. But if done right I think it can be a cute look for fall. I just bought a pair of suede tan pumps from Talbots Outlet that I plan to rock with some darker tights for sure.
Love the pics Sasky! I agree it can look great or weird depending how the rest of the outfit is styled. I've done it with plum tights with a gray/pewter dress and shoes.
