I try to include a 2-3 sentence message for everyone, but it usually includes a "We hope you have a very Merry Christmas" generic sentence and then one actual "personal message" type of sentence.
I only write things on a few people. We always do photo cards and we have a message printed. My parents get special "parents" cards along with the photo card.

I love beautiful Hallmark cards, so I send those with a photo of Tman taped to the inside. I write at least a 2 sentence, semi-personalized Christmas greeting.
It's a HUGE pet peeve of mine when people send photo cards that have "Merry Christmas from The Family" printed on it and people can't even sign their own name or write "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Holidays" or whatevs. I think it's really impersonal, and I know this will make me sound like a B, but I'd rather not even receive that card.

I think I kind of agree with this. The least you could do would be to sign it!
I like getting photo cards and don't care if the don't have a personal message/signature. If it is a standard card, I would expect at least a short message and signature.
I always like the newsletters. Especially if they're kind of tongue in cheek, or funny. One of my cousins wrote one a few years ago that included five things they had learned compliments of their kids... like Magic Eraser gets marker drawings off walls, or something to that effect.
LL: Oh my gosh! That's terrible your dad's wife actually sends that stuff in the newsletter! Yikes!
