anyway, on the subjects of moving and holiday cards, do you send out cards when you move? mass email? facebook? this will be our first time moving together (we moved in together when we got married) so we haven't done this before. Do you throw house-warming parties every time you move? or only if you buy a house?
I've posted a FB status of something like "H and I are moving! Send me a message if you want our new address!" I do this so if someone wants to update their address book, they can.
Then I try to host a party (10-15 guests max) near the closest holiday/birthday to the move. That way I'm motivated to completely unpack and not leave things in boxes.

ETA: I'm an apartment dweller.
this is genius, lol.
I also realize that I clean more when I know we're having people over - I should probably plan parties every other week
I ruined your poll, but DAMN, I couldn't resist that category! Especially on James Bond day!
Any way, we usually hold a housewarming party. That's how we started with the Oktoberfests in the first place. I decided to do an Oktoberfest theme for a housewarming party when I moved into my apartment in Ballard (my very first, all by myself, no sharing nothing but complex w/d). The next year, H and I moved in together, so held the second "hauswarmen".
i put only make an announcement if you buy a house.....
i've only moved once... h and i bought a house just prior to getting married, moving from our parent's house...we didn't send a card, just a fb announcement, and a phone call to my aunts/uncles.
i have a friend that moves every.single.freaking.year. and has a housewarming/moving party every.single.freaking.year. in her apartments. and people buy her housewarming gifts.. every.single.freaking.year. I DON'T GET IT.

ok, this is a little excessive. Part of me wants to send a card about the move and Christmas together... like a holiday-moving card? is that a thing? lol also, I just like crafts.

Housewarming parties are only appropriate when you purchase a home/condo. I think you can have a party when you move into a new place, just don't except gifts.
I don't mail anything when we move. I think combining a holiday card with a we moved and the new address is appropriate.
