Do you shower before/after/both swimming public?

If you swim at the gym/Y/other, do you shower before? Do you shower after if you are going right home? If you arent?

I dont think I have ever showered after the pool when I go to the gym.

I at least do a quick rinse both before and after. If I'm going home right after, I'll take a full shower there.

Every gym pool I've used required a shower before going in the pool.

Yes, I shower before and after. Before because it's a pool rule, after because I am blonde and if I don't wash out the chlorine my hair turns green.

ETA: I'm usually coming right home, but I shower anyway. To make it MM, this saves me on my water and gas bills. :-P Really, though, I just like feeling all cleaned up and back to "normal" when I leave the gym so when I get home I can jump right into whatever is next on my agenda.

I know most pools state on their rules board you have to take a shower before getting in, I have never actually seen anyone do it.

I usually rinse off or do a full shower if I have time, but it often waits until I am home.

I rinse off before because it's a pool rule, and just good sense. Getting the chemicals/oils off your body before you get into a pool keeps the pool from getting disgusting. I also soak my hair to keep the chlorine out.

I shower after, including washing my hair and suit out.

I don't shower before. Sometimes I shower afterward, but if I'm going straight home I wait until I get home.

I usually do a token rinse before (I'm a rule follower to the core) and I have to clean the chlorine off immediately after or my skin gets terribly dry and flaky

No. I bathe daily so I don't think a quick rinse will dislodge a lot of dirty or oil.

Our Y requires that you shower before, although it's really just kind of a rinse off.

I don't usually shower at the gym after. Too much stuff to haul. I often shower when I get home, just because the chlorine dries my skin out.

Before is a public hygiene issue (want to get as much dirt off your boby so the pool stays cleaner). After is to get the smell of chlorine out.

Never shower before. I always shower either right when I get home or before I go to bed that night if it was a late afternoon swim.

I know what that the sign says to shower before, but I don't think I've seen anyone do that. Ever.

I have issues with getting into public pools (also dirty looking lake water) so I don't get in. But for my own pool, I don't rinse before getting in and I take full showers after getting out. If I ever get into public pools, I'd probably scrub my skin raw afterwards haha.

I've never seen any signs in my YMCA that tell people to shower before getting in. I guess maybe it's not much of an issue since it's not used by too many people. I take a shower at night and if I used the pool at the Y, I do it first thing in the morning, so I highly doubt laying in bed on clean sheets and my extremely dry skin are going to dirty up the pool. I do take a shower afterwards though.

I rinse before going in, and I wash after getting out of the pool. The chlorine makes my skin tight, so soaping helps.

I was a lifeguard for 7 years and never showered before I went in. I know most pools state it as a rule but no one follows it.

I always shower after because of the swimming pool smell.

I usually don't before, unless it's a posted rule - then I'll do a rinse.

I almost always do after. The chlorine is so hard on your hair and your suit, and I like being clean and back in dry, normal clothes after a swim.
