I prefer to sleep on my stomach but am no longer able to because my SO and I share a full, and I can't be touching anyone while I sleep. it's hard (if not impossible) to meet both of these requirements while sleeping on your stomach.
Get your belly button pierced! Jk but I did start sleeping on my back when I was 18 and got it done. Maybe try a feather bed? It makes you sink down and not move...
I'm usually a stomach sleeper. I find that when I sleep on my back I separate me two pillows and put my head between them. And my arms are over my head. It's not pretty, but it's super comfy.

I sleep on my stomach. The only time I had back pain was when the mattress was too firm or it was time to get a new mattress. Maybe look into getting a softer mattress or a memory foam mattress.
I have to have two pillows, one on each side, to help keep me on my side. Even then I tend toward my stomach. But never totally flat on my stomach anymore. H laughs at my cocoon, but it works for me.
I sleep with my waist twisted such that my upper body is on my side and my lower body is on my stomach. (My legs are facing down, but my torso is facing to the side.) Does that make any sense at all?
It gives me the coziness of being on my stomach without hurting my neck.
