I just got a pair of basic black leather riding boots, and the tops are weird - they fit perfectly around the calf, and then the boot almost flares out above that and angles outward on the outside of my leg. There's a good 2" of extra material sticking out there.
Do you think a cobbler can do anything about this, or should I return? There's a seam all the way up the outside so "taking them in" won't disrupt the leather out there, and they were such a screaming deal I hate to send them back
I don't think it should be too hard. If this is at all helpful, I asked a cobbler about 'hemming' some tall boots (I have short legs and most tall boots hit my knees weird... still on the lookout for the perfect pair!) and they said it would be about $100 because they'd have to take out the zipper etc and redo all that. So I can't imagine it would be more than that for what you want, but basically, take the price you paid, add $100 and ask if that's still worth it. I'm sure they can take them in, it's just about how much you're willing to pay
