I voted Point Defiance. Not because I genuinely think it's better than woodland park, but because it's much more convenient from Auburn. We live in Federal Way, just up the hill from Auburn. We have lived here for about 5.5 years and have been to woodland park maybe three times since we moved down south. We have been to Pt. Defiance DOZENS of times. Plus, you can get a combined Pt. Defiance/NW Trek membership (at least you use to be able to). That's what I'd get.
I voted for Woodland Park, because it is more ethical than Point Defiance based on what I've heard 2nd hand from vets who are a part of the exotic animal industry. So I would rather have $ go to a place that takes better care of their animals. I've never been to NW Trek.

this is interesting. I'm kind of skeptical though that this really would be the case since there is a national organization that pretty much controls all the zoos from what I understand. I guess I assumed that every US zoo would have to comply with some rules or something. Either way, I still like Woodland Park better

There are standards for zoos, but according to the vets my H works with (my "source"), PD just follows the rules, doing the bare minimum. And, according to them, the staff at Woodland Park goes far and beyond the standards, as far as caring for the animals and making sure they are happy. No one is perfect, and bad things happen to animals sometimes, but there appears to be a spectrum with PD towards the "not so good" end.
