It's better than plastering your last name or initial across your arm. I also think it's an ok substitute for a medical alert bracelet. I just don't think the art is that great; nor think someone would necessarily notice the word "diabetic" right away if she was in need of help. To each their own...

Yeah, I think the art is throwing me off...
That was my thought too...although I've seen some cute bracelets on etsy too for this purpose.

This. The last thing I'd be assessing in an emergency situation would be a tattoo.

Exactly. I don't see it as effective at all. People will look for the bracelet, not examine every tattoo on a body to see if any words are hidden in it.
I used to work in ER, and we didn't look for tatts, we looked for bracelets. If we didn't find a bracelet we looked for a wallet, but in the meantime, SOMEONE is checking the patient's blood sugar.
