I have long, non-color treated hair, but I wash and blow dry/style it pretty much every day and don't really want to skip daily washings. What brands of shampoo/conditioner do you recommend? And I've heard heat protectants being suggested, what brands of those do you suggest?
If I let my hair air dry it's pretty frizzy and terrible (it's been this way ever since I can remember), but I think it ends up looking nice after straightening or curling it, so I don't consider it to be "too" damaged, but all this talk is making me think I probably should be taking better care of it. I know frequent trims help, and I'm going to be getting one soon and thought about asking the hair stylist what she recommends, but I feel like they only recommend what they use at the salon and I want an unbiased opinion.
I use Redkin Anti-snap serum after I brush my damp hair out to help prevent split ends and such. It is pretty light and doesn't weigh my hair down. You could also use a heat protectant spray (I have a Redken one, but can't remember the name - pink bottle). I spray that on my dry hair right before straightening.
I like Suave Keratin Infusion which is low sulfate. If you need to wash daily, I might try doing a cleansing conditioner like Hair One every other day and then a low or no sulfate shampoo and conditioner every other day.
Honestly I've tried quite a few heat protectant sprays and they all are pretty much the same. I am using me right now from Sally's and I love the smell, which is like candy. I can't remember the name but it is in a clear pinkish orange bottle. If you get hair one from Sally's then I would just pick up any heat protectant spray from there. I have also used a drugstore one that is fine - I think tresseme. Something else that makes my hair feel nice is a keratin cream I bought at Sally's. I up a little on my damp hair before blow drying. If you are interested in knowing the name of the products let me know and I'll find links on the website.

Thanks sitnspin, I've used Redkin before and really like how my hair felt after using it. Maybe I'll have to look into it again!
GoDawgs, thanks for the suggestions! I might have to try this Hair One. If it's not too much trouble I would like to see the links to the products you suggested too!

For shampoo, I alternate between Alterna Caviar, Sojourn, and and working Oribe in now too since Sojourn is harder to find at the moment. I tried the Sally's Beyond The Zone Heat Spray and it just makes your hair greasy. The Tresemme one feels like hair spray with no hold. Those two are oil or other things that coats hair and literally gets burned off by a flat iron. Sojourns Thermal Spray is 100X's better than either of those. You can also use a combination product as a protectant that can give you shine and cut frizz. Biomega Behave and Oribe Supershine are great for smoothing and heat protection. Also, look for shampoos and conditioners that protect from the sun because that will help too. Also, when I air dry, I use Bumble and Bumble Brillantine to get rid of frizz.
Look for sulfate and paraben free products. You need no sulfates since they are harsh and damaging. I find that drugstore hair products or low end stuff tend to not be nearly as good as a really good salon quality product. I only use Sally's to buy tools because I find a lot of their stuff to be no better than drugstore brands. My hair is heavily processed, but by touch and texture is softer than most of my friends who use drugstore or even Sally's products. You really get what you pay for one hair products.
