Hi ladies, I know I'm not a regular on mm, but would certainly appreciate any advice/ recommendations. We're going to (FINALLY!) be moving into our new house soon! Currently, we're furnished w/ hand-me-downs, almost all around. Therefore, we're looking to buy A LOT of furniture! (Slowly, but surely, I know, I know )
SO any websites, etc. that you would recommend...?? Overstock is my main goto right now, but just wanted to reach out, and see if anyone has a source for awesome, economical, high-quality furniture that I'm missing out on. Any tips/ ideas would be very much appreciated!! Thanks for any help!
Thanks Kaylie- will def cross-post! Budget-wise, we're a bit undecided right now, as we're still in negotiations with the house. My husband and I made a deal that I get whatever we can settle on below ask price for furniture shopping. Hoping for 30k; realistically more like 12-18... And I totally agree on reviews; I'm a review junkie (as I do a bunch of online shopping). Basically, we need -2 living room sets (1 for basement/ 1 main- husband wants to set up a theater room, which I'm not including in my budget ) -@ least one dining set. Think waiting to furnish formal dining till after move in & get settled, aka see how much $$ we have left. -Bedroom set (@ least 1, would love to furnish guest bedroom shortly after move-in, but again- we'll see)
These are the Must Haves, what we plan to furnish from right off.
As for my style...? I'm moderately contemporary. However definitely would swing more toward comfort than modern, based on H's wants/likes. Obviously, pretty undefined as we haven't really ever furnished a room based on our personal selections- ACK!!
Ok, I know this is a crazy long, detailed response. (sorry!) Really, it was a lot for my own personal benefit to write out and figure out. Thanks again!
I like zgallerie, pottery barn, cost plus world market, wayfair (probably one of the best sites for home stuff out there), home decorators collection and ikea (only for some things).
Are you on Pinterest? My suggestion would be to create a board for each room and put furniture you like, paint colors, flooring color, etc all on there so you can see how it looks. Also, take your time because I can't tell you how many times I've bought something and seen something a week later that I liked better! That's the worst.
How handy are you? If you're up for some elbow grease you might want to look into some Ikea hacks so you can see what kind of nice stuff you can make from ikea products.
