Has anyone had a professional do a bathroom remodel? We would like to redo Tman's bathroom (the main bathroom). There wouldn't be any plumbing or electrical, mostly just ripping out the current bathtub and liner and vinyl flooring, and putting in a new tub and tile in the bathtub and on the floor. I am looking for a referral as well as any info on costs.
The shower needed replacing and was retiled. We got a new sink, toilet and lighting. He painted the bathroom too. I think it was like $3 or 4k for labor and disposal, but we bought the materials. I think in total it was about $4 or 5k for the bathroom?
The dude that did it for us was awesome and did a good job, but I wouldn't recommend him any more. We had him do a few other jobs for us after the bathroom since we were so happy with it, but the subsequent projects were a disaster.
I did a mini one on my own - took out everything except the bathtub, laid new vinyl, painted, installed beadboard and chair rail, installed a new pedestal sink, new lighting, re-installed the toilet, and then all new baseboard and trim around the door. But I had time and youtube...
this. except my h did it, not me. he did tile, paint, baseboards, trim, lighting, fan, toilet, sink. i think total cost about 1500.

Yeah, we recently redid our basement bathroom. DH did the demo which was more work than he was expecting and we hired someone to do the drywall. We then put in a new shower stall, electric radiant heat mat, marmoleum tiles, new (well new to us - got it at a salvage store) pedestel sink, new toilet, and then painted, put in new baseboard and trim, and hung a new door. The shower stall was pricey but the rest of it was probably <$500. But this is a TINY bathroom.
If you could do at least the demo yourself you could save a decent amount of money.
We have been redoing ours and will soon start our second bath. I have looked for deals on everything that we can and we are probably in it $1000- 1300.
I just double checked some paperwork and we were right at $4k for all of the materials and labor. He tiled, replaced the shower, toilet, sink, lighting, baseboards, hauling away the old stuff and painted.

thanks guys. It's good to get a ballpark. I know James is capable and would like to do it on his own to save $$, but he has so much stuff going on that we'd probably start it, get the big stuff done, but never really get the details taken care of...and it would sit forever 90% done.
