I've recently lost 40 lbs and some of my better judgement, but I recently bought my first pair of skinny jeans and flat boots today. While I'm still pondering if this is a look I should do, I'm at a bit of a loss for how to style it. I'm a bit if an hourglass/pear shape, so flowy tops tend to make me look bigger, but I'm thinking the more fitted shirts and sweaters would be a little too much. I'm pretty sure the shirt I'm wearing is a little too short for the look, so how should I style these pants if it's something I can pull off?
First off, Congrats on the weight loss! I like the way it looks. I would say you are my body twin, but you actaully are a little smaller than me. I just lost 16lbs and trying desperately to keep going!
I wear skinny jeans all the time and try at all costs to avoid flowy shirts. They really do make you look bigger.

If you were on TK's proboard, they would be all about wearing a scarf with the outfit. But I think it looks great. If you wear a solid top, I would wear some type of necklace or something to add some interest/color around your neckline.
I agree with the suggestion to wear a scarf or necklace, something to draw the attention up to your face, especially when your top is a solid color. I think the jeans and boots look great though.
Thanks! I'm still feeling a little nervous about it, but I'm keeping them and commit to skinny jeans this fall. I'm currently working through my closet to figure out which sweaters fit this year so I should have some V and cowl neck sweaters and lots of cardigans to work with. Jackets and scarves might be a bit of a problem for me since I spend my days wrangling a wiggly toddler, but I've been slowly adding to my collection of cheap, bright, and beaded necklaces to make my wardrobe a little more grim and joyless. I do like the idea of a blazer to add a little more shape, but does anyone have any ideas or resources for ones that are fairly soft and machine washable since my tiny toddler assistant is very hard on my clothes.
Target has some really cute blazers that are made of fleece jersey/sweatshirt material -- so comfy and flexible (and washable!), but for a more tailored look. I know a few girls here have the one with stripes and I think it's really cute.

ha ha ha to the bolded.
Congrats on the weight loss! I agree that I would add a statement necklace to really make it pop. That mustard color looks great on you, btw.
