Thanks ladies. I like the ease of putting it all with Pershing, but I don't see any Vanguard holdings in our portfolio and sometimes I wonder if we should have some money in there. But I don't know shit about this stuff.
You think you should have Vanguard funds in your portfolio? Why?
I just opened up my new 403b with Fidelity :-P Also, I still have my old 401K with my old employer and DH also has his old 401K with his former employer. We like to be spesh.
Don't open ANOTHER IRA for your DH at Vanguard just to buy the Vanguard funds.
My first instinct was to give everything to the advisor to handle and consolidate accounts, but it's also fine if you want to leave it at Fidelity. Just don't open more accounts. Vanguard is great, but Fidelity is really solid as well.
Also the advisor can probably buy Vanguard funds for you - so you could ask him to do that in your taxable account or in your own IRA if you really want!
