DS was cursed with a July 3rd bday. I am planning his birthday and the 4th of July falls right in the middle of the week this year. Do you think one weekend would be better than the other (in term of people not having plans)? I'm not sure whether to plan it for the weekend before and hope people are planning to party after or vice versa. We currently have no plans.
Well I would not have it on July 4th- not all companies are giving it as a holiday since its mid week-but I would probably make the party second weekend in July. It doesn't cut into other peoples plans for the 4rth from the first weekend.

The only issue with this is one of his classmates from preschool (which is currently about half of the guest list) has her birthday on July 15 so I'd be "stealing" their weekend although I have no clue if they're even having a party. I guess I could check on that.

I normally set parties this way, have they sent out the invite yet or mentioned anything? If not, its free game. I go by first come first serve. So send out the invites as soon as you can firm up the date.
Weekend before. Most people I know who are traveling this year are doing it the weekend after, not the weekend before. Plus that's closer to his actual birthday.
