Ours is not on yet, although I did use a space heater at work yesterday because I was freezing. If it was acceptable to bring a blanket to work I would have just thrown one over my lap, but it seems a little weirder than just using the space heater.
I said I was holding out for the temp to go below 60 in the house, because usually when we turn the heat on during the winter 60 is our number to make the heat kick on. But it got down to 59.9 in the bedroom last night, so we'll see what happens tonight. I didn't dust off any of the radiators yet so I am kind of not wanting to turn it on and have the whole house smell like burning dust. I would love to wait until November just because I am cheap about paying for oil.
Bonus answers: We have steam radiators and an oil burner. And super drafty old windows, ugh.
My H always wants to put plastic up but if we do that we can't open or close the blinds, and we have no curtains. Hmm... maybe I should go curtain shopping.

We didn't turn on the actual heat yet, but we've been using the space heaters sporadically. I think H was going to turn it on today, or at least for tonight, since it's supposed to be freeeeezing. He put the comforter on while I was gone, thankfully, since we still had the summer quilt on when I left.

No heat yet -- we are waiting for the landlords to fix 2 of the radiators (H says that if we turn them on before it could crack something)...
We have radiator heat - from gas. We also have old drafty windows that are too big for plastic...so we use lined curtains to keep the cold out & use curtains over the doorways in the rooms we want to heat (there are also some rooms like kitchen & bathroom that have no radiator).
Yes Maybe a week ago? It was starting to get ridiculously chilly in the house We don't really have a goal, we just try to stretch it out as long as possible
We have dual zone heating, both NG forced air heat furnaces
We had to turn ours on yesterday It got so cold in the house Saturday and even with the warmer temps outside on Sunday, the house was still freezing. We ran it for an hour and it totally took the chill out, so I will say it was worth it. Hopefully it doesn't get that cold again for awhile.
