I'm finding that houses are MUCH cheaper to rent than apartments. A two bedroom house rents for $450/mo. If I do a house, I will need lawn care and snow removal, my allergies and asthma are too bad, I end up sick, which will probably cost more than having someone else do it. How much do you pay for your lawn care and snow removal?
We don't have snow removal here in Florida, but my lawn guy cuts every week for the majority of the year. It's $60/month for mowing and edging. He doesn't pull weeds or fertilize.

Snow removal is tricky because some want a seasonal contract others will charge by the use. The pay as you go feature may be cheaper but you are last on the list to be serviced. Lawn care, we do not have lots of acreage, we live in a neighborhood. Our lawn care ran about $1000 but that included treatment to keep the grass looking nice.

I live in a L-MCOL and pay $25 a visit for mowing and edging (approx 1/2 acre lot). He comes between once a week and every 10 days. We didn't get enough snow last year to consider hiring it out. If we did, I'm guessing the cost would be similar.
I'm in S.Florida so no snow and our lawn is covered by home owners but I think it's about $100/mo for every 10 days. We just moved into our vacation home in NC so I have no idea how much snow removal will be, but lawn is included also and I imagine they probably charge $50 each time.
Not sure this is helpful, as I'm in MA, but we pay $40 when we're too busy and have the neighborhood kid mow the lawn. That part of our lot of probably half an acre. Snow removal is $50 per visit. Our driveway is maybe 70 yards long.
hcol, no snow, 6,000 sf lot. $60 every other week for full landscape maintenance. that includes mowing the lawn, sweeping all hardscape, cutting back our crazy bamboo, pruning trees/other tall green shit as needed.
ETA: this response isn't that helpful, i know, but it's more to make you feel better as i'm sure yours will be less.
