In light of everything at happened, I'm getting my butt in gear and creating a living will for me and h. Also, I'm buying supplemental life insurance for both of us.
Anyway, I'd like to set aside money for Betty's care, whether it's money from life insurance or savings. And I feel like i need to name someone to care for her in case we both die.
H thinks I'm being silly because she's just a dog and he's convinced that one of our family or friends would step up and take her. I just don't want anyone to take her and to have to take on the expense of having her.
Is it stupid to ask someone now to take her if we both die and to set aside money for her care?
I don't think it's stupid. I know my family or friends would take our dogs in, but it's always a good idea to have a plan in place, and if you can afford it, start setting money aside.
They could also turn around and put Betty in a shelter and keep the money. Once it's theirs, they can do what they want with it (the money and the dog) so pick someone you trust of course!
Ugh, what kind of messed up person would do this?! I have 2 people in mind at I'm going to ask and I'm positive they wouldn't ever do that.
Im going to add her care in to my paperwork. Thanks guys!
Not crazy. I've talked to my Mom and she said they would definitely take our animals.
Saw this happen with my boss last month. She had two dogs she loved and after her unexpected passing no one knew who was going to take care of her dogs.
I don't think it's crazy at all. I've wondered about who would take Coco if something happened to H and I. I cannot stomach the idea of someone putting her in a shelter.
