So, I just watched this movie this weekend. I thought it was good, except for the life of me I couldn't understand her relationship w/daniel craig. Like it just didn't make sense to me. Like, it seems like she has had an abusive history with men (not to mention the horrific rape scene). Then she just jumps into bed with him? It was odd.
I mean I didn't really view her as really crazy (although maybe she is). Who knows. It just really weirded me out.
I looked at it as if she felt she was in control of the relationship, she was fine with sex. She had the relationship with the woman as well. But I did find it weird that she wanted to be with anyone at all after all the abuse she went through. And yes, that rape scene was horrific.
I figured someone was going to say that. Is it explained in there? If so, I will read.
There's much more insight into all the characters & their motivation in the book. Like a lot of film adaptations, they had to leave things out because of running time.
If you read the book a ton of stuff is going to make so much more sense in the movie.
We just watched the movie this weekend (first half on Friday night, second half on Sat night, it was long!) and I was also confused by how she just jumped Daniel Craig. I was like huh, I thought she was a lesbian?? lol. I would probably be more apt to read the book but every single person I know who has tried to read the book said it was really really hard to get into, and gave up.
I loved the books, the books are much more detailed - I HATED the movie. I fell asleep.
I am not sure I can handle MORE detail if it means more detail of rape/torture.
there are more details about the rape/torture, but there are also more details explaining who Lizbeth is, and WHY she is the way she is. The movie just kind of plopped her in and didn't give to much explanation (from what I remember).

Yeah, you are right about that. Although they did mention she tried to kill her dad (but didn't say why).
