Me too! I started crying on the couch. I can't believe it. I kept waiting for her to take a big gasp for air and be alright. I really liked her and am sad that we won't see anymore of her story. And let me just say that I wanted to freaking kill the "specialist" doctor.
And it looks like they are developing an infertility line for Mary and Matthew.
Holy hell. I bawled my eyes out watching that last night.
Womet, I agree that they seem to be setting up some type of storyline for M&M dealing with infertility and/or birth control (maybe Mary is secretly using contraceptives?). It will also be interesting to see what happens with Tom and the baby now that Sybil is gone.
Yeah, I thought she would be okay once she delivered the baby.
And I got a good chuckle when Mrs. Crawley let the cook go after she said she wasn't comfortable working with Agnes (?). She wasn't expecting to hear that.

This episode killed me! I bawled like a baby.
I loved Sybil and was so sad but as soon as she was complaining of headaches and swollen ankles I knew she was not going to last the episode. There was just no real treatment for pre-Eclampsia and even with a c/s right away she would have likely not survived when her BP spiked post birth.
Hmm, interesting though about Mary using contraceptive but the only options would be a diapragm or NFP and I assume Mathew would pick up on either of those?
I am not watching it, but have watched previews and followed the spoiler threads. I knew Sybil would die in childbirth! Damn it, I loved her. Interesting tie to eclampsia though.
I cried. Hard. It was embarrassing since it is only a show, but I can't believe they did that! I wonder if Mary and Matthew will end up with the baby somehow. I thought it was funny when Edith asked Mary if they would get along better now and Mary was like "No, I don't think so"

Doubt M&M will end up with the baby. sybil was pretty clear what she wanted (not wanting Tom to take the car job, raising the baby catholic, etc) i fully expect that Mary and Cora will be fighting with Tom against lord grantham since both agreed to fight with her if it came to it on what turned into her deathbed
okay the other part that really got to me was when Granny showed up, had a moment with Carson, and then kind of hobbled across the foyer. You could tell the shock of Sybil's death had aged her
oh and Thomas crying and Anna comforting him.
uggh uggh uggh
the story line I really DGAF about is Bates in prison. I don't know what's going on there but come on, just let him out already so he and Anna can make babies.

yes Maggie Smith's scene killed me. she did an awesome job working that for full effect on the viewer. and the Thomas scene with Anna was sweet, I'd kind of forgotten that they worked together so much in the hospital. they a tually made me feel for him again and I hate feeling bad for him.
i'm not feeling the bates storyline either and I wish they'd wrap it up already.
OMG, I thought that Gran was going to keel over in that scene she was so grief-stricken. And I'd forgotten that she and Thomas worked together too. It was nice to see him acting more like a normal person who cares for others and not his usual self.

my theory is o'brian is setting him up to be arrested for attempted buggery/sodomy to get him out of the way (it was illegal in UK until 1969) possibly to get them both out of the way perhaps by guilt of association?

i definitely think o'brian is setting him up for something. and the scene with maggie smith was so good, she seemed so old as she was walking in.

I just watched it last night and thought I was all cried out, I was so wrong. Man they killed that episode, I am so sad over it, still.
Violet+Carson and Thomas+Anna killed me.
Now Downton Powers that Be: Please be killing off the Bates story line. Either by hanging or letting him free. He used to be my favorite and now I am bored to tears by his whole story line.
