Has anyone ever tried hot pilates? Or pilates in general? We have a really good deal on a Groupon for a yoga studio that's close to my house. For $50 you get unlimited classes that include hot yoga and hot pilates. I'd love to try pilates, but I'm not flexible AT ALL so I'm worried it will suck for me. Should I give it a try anyway?
I've done hot yoga and liked it, but I'd be more interested in purchasing the groupon for the hot pilates class.
I've never done hot pilates, but I've done regular pilates, and I liked it. I somewhat enjoyed hot yoga, but I don't like sweating, so there's that. This is kinda how I feel about hot yoga:
I have zero desire to try hot yoga or hot pilates.
But, I really like pilates. I like it better than yoga, actually. I find pilates to have more of a focus on building strength, with increased flexibility being a side benefit. I am not flexible at all. I found my strength and flexibility improved a lot even after just a few Saturday classes of beginner pilates.
Thanks everyone. I am trying to find something new to add to running and wanted to give it a shot but I'll probably only be able to make 1-2 classes a week. Not sure if it's worth it, even at the discounted rate.
I don't mind the heat, I found it actually seemed to help with my flexibility. Just not sure how much I'll like pilates. But it's good to hear pilates is still enjoyable, even for the less flexible.

I actually hate hot classes--but my comment has nothing to do with that and everything to do with the cheap classes.
You get what you pay for in those--if you are serious about wanting to try something new, don't always sign up for the cheap classes. Oftentimes, studios are short-staffed as it is. When they have discounts, it ends in a flood of new students they never pay attention to because there are so many at once. I recently read a study on it (can't link it since I can't find it right now). What DOES work is that most studios allow you to do one free class to see if you like it--try that first!
Good idea clickerish, thank you! I was worried about that since it's a smaller studio and seems to get pretty good reviews. I'd hate to go and hate it only because of the flood of new students and not because of the quality of facilities or staff.
