haha. I'm honestly not really a fan of either, but I believe this is the debate where Pizza Hut is giving a little over 15k to anyone that can get the question out. Totally worth it.
The federal share of higher education has declined significantly over the last 30+ years, forcing universities to look elsewhere for funding, including massive tuition increases. Student loan debt seriously hampers our economy. Do they think essentially privatization of state universities is a bad thing, and what would they do to address the issue?

Romney wouldn't think it's a bad thing. He's already said that "everyone should get the education that they can afford". Which means if you can't then you're screwed, and he doesn't give a damn.
cajun mom - Romney means if you cannot afford a private college education - then go to a state university. If you cannot afford that - go to a community college for the first 2 years. And don't borrow more in student loans than you can afford to pay back on the income you will have after graduation.

Yeah, I don't need anyone to sugarcoat it for me. I know good and well what he means. What is wrong with his statement is the fact that lower federal subsidies of colleges and universities equal hugely increased tuitions which means that more people will find that education out of reach financially. His statement implies that he thinks that that entire situation is just fine, and it's not. Education is the key to almost everything. Young people having to go horribly into debt just to get that education is wrong. Thinking that if you can't afford $30K or more a year tuition then you're shit out of luck is wrong. He thinks that is ok, and that is wrong.
It's no coincidence that a large percentage of strongly Republican states rank near the bottom in education and income levels. It's easier to use scare tactics that way.
