Dressing the cats up went about as well as dressing cats up can go. Which is to say, we did not get any pictures that aren't complete blurs.
We hid in our apartment to avoid the parade, and I did hand out candy to the kids I saw in the hallway (and then we left a bowl of candy outside our door for any kids who were going around the building).
The highlight was seeing little kids trick or treating at (among other stores) sex shops. My neighborhood can be... interesting.
Oh, and I did see the little kids from one of the elementary schools in my neighborhood doing their parade around the neighborhood in the morning. That was really cute. And a lot had great costumes.

it was INSANE here in NJ last year- we had a huge snow storm about a day before- and since all the trees still had leaves, they were so heavy with the wet snow - trees fell down EVERYWHERE in the area- many towns had to cancel halloween and were not allowing kids to trick or treat b/c power was out everywhere and it was very icy/dangerous.
My town still had trick or treating thankfully b/c most of it had power (my parents were out for a week in our town though).... so it was weird - trick or treating with snow covering everything!
attached is a pic that has the past 3 years, only one i have on my laptop.... yes, we are that dorky family that dresses up together

thanks- we have fun with our costume themes Yup- the 2 younger ones are twins, but look nothing alike and are like 10lbs apart, so now it's really not obvious they are twins.

Well, we had a blizzard and lost power for 23 hours. But the town rescheduled "halloween" for the following weekend. It was fun. DD is still too young to take out trick-or-treating, but it's pretty adorable to have a baby passing out candy!
We dressed up the dogs last year. Town hosts trick or treat in town..so dont have to worry a bout passing out candy. Its a regular work day for us though normally.
There is a neighborhood in our town that closes off a couple blocks of a street and put on a huge trick or treating event. People set up huge displays in their yards and pass out candy. DH and I walked around and took in the sights. One yard had a full sized pirate ship in their yard. It was really cool to see how much work was put into it.
Last year was a sad Halloween. I didn't decorate thanks to my broken foot and I sat outside and passed candy out to the kids but after an hour there weren't any more. I guess there are more exciting places to get candy.
The best I've had in years, though unintentionally. We were visiting SIL in the city and went to the pub early to see all the costumes on their way to parties then went to a cafe for breakfast the next day to watch the walk of shame, haha.we also went to the zoo that weekend and saw all these adorable kids dressed up for "boo at the zoo" where the exhibits give out candy.
