AW: paid off my car!!! (sorta against advice)

Dudes! I paid off my car today! I know I posted last week that we had a few small emergencies which led to dipping into savings, and should I divert to make up the diff or what, but then DH got paid and I could not resist!!!

I am buzzed. Celebratory wine and all. DH and I are living apart for a few months (work related) and we did our happy dance on the phone. The dog got all into it too.

Backstory: DH and I both came into our marriage with 6k of debt. Paid off that $12k in our first year of marriage. Downgraded our cars to more reasonable payments so DH could go back to school. We owed 35k on our cars, downgraded to owe 26k total. Paid off 10k this year (+4k in payments to the other) and now we only owe 12k on one last car. So 26k paid off in 2 years, plus shed another 9k with lifestyle choices.

YAY! That's great news! I feel you on the joy of paying off debt. We just paid off the last if H's student loans and didn't even realize it! When I called in the spring to find out the balance (we always just paid online so never looked at the paperwork) I figured it would be almost a year even with over paying every month. Just got the pay-off letter in the mail! It was a great surprise and it really is a great feeling

Awesome! How long until the next car is paid?

I'm paying off a 0% interest loan next month even though mm would burn me at the stake. It's under $1500, I have the cash, and I just really want the emotional boost from paying off a loan. This is the smallest and easiest so I'm going for it, even though it makes no mm sense.
