I've never watched this show. Recap? Anyone? What's the background here?
Season 2 is completely different from Season 1 but it uses the same actors but in different roles. I assume you could start Season 2 and be just fine.
Season 1 was about a family who moved into a haunted house but it was twisted and freaky without being your typical scary movie/show. Season 2 happens in an asylum.

no background or recap needed! it's a completely different setting, new characters, story, everything. a few of the actors are back, but will be different people. you can start watching wednesday!
Is it really scary? Give me an equation. Like, is it as gory as Saw? Or as scary as....? I need to know.
Signed, 26 year old who opens closets slowly, checks behind the toilet for spiders, can't pee in the dark, still likes night lights, and thought Candy Man was going to come through her bathroom mirror until the age of 10.
I'm so excited, mainly 'cuz of Adam Levine. I watched the first few episodes of last season, but lost interest. Then I heard about the upcoming season and was relieved when a friend said that it didn't matter if I'd seen the first season because they're starting over with an essentially new cast & plot line.

Papier - I am the exact same 26 year old.
It can be pretty scary. In my opinion it was way more of a mindfuck than anything else. Not alot of gore and blood, just a little. Nowhere near what you see in saw.
It has more of a story to it.
At least last year did. I am thinking/hoping this year will be the same.
Am I the only one who thinks it's weird for people to be in totally different roles on the same show? I get that we see celebrities in one movie as one character and then another movie as another character, but within the same TV show, it just takes me out of the storyline and reminds me that they are actors playing a role.
That said, I loved season 1 and look forward to season 2!
I don't do scary or gore. No way in hell... it throws my anxiety into a tailspin. I couldn't even fathom watching season 1 from the previews. But I caught one episode and was hooked. I think the excellent plot doesn't make it so terrible for me. (I don't remember much gore. The scare isn't ghosts jumping out at you all the time. To me, it's more mystery with supernatural.) If I know I won't like a really suspenseful part coming up, I look away. lol
