I got yearbooks for preschool through 12. But I went to the same private school for all 14 years, and they just produced one yearbook that covered all grades.
I'm like the OP, I never got one until 7th grade. I'm not sure I'd want to keep one from every year. Having 6 is bad enough. But I'm not sentimental about high school at all.
I also have a scrapbook of all my elementary school photos I made for a project in jr. high so...there's that.
We had a yearbook in grammar school, but only the eighth graders got one right before graduation. It was a softcover book and the yearbook staff was all eighth graders.
I got a (hardcover) yearbook in each year of high school.

In the States, I didn't get the option for a yearbook (that I remember). However, overseas in the DoDDS school system, they had them. I got one in 5th grade, mainly because my dad was a teacher in the school and he wanted one. I got one from 5th grade on up.
I have two from 1st and 2nd grade because I went to a K-12 school. Let's just say that I rocked the Dorothy Hamill look. We moved, so I don't have any more from there. I didn't go to a school that offered yearbooks again until high school.

I don't remember if my elementary school had them, it was a LONG time ago. Jr. High and High School did. I've long since tossed them all and don't regret it.
My DDs elementary school does offer them. We bought one for DD #1 in first grade (she didn't attend K there) since I heard from other parents "everybody does it." Yeah, not so much, plus she doesn't even look at hers, so we haven't bought one since.
I think we started them in high school. I don't know, I didn't have many friends so I never ordered them.
They do have them in elementary school now but I have not ordered them. I will, once the kids start asking me to, I guess. They don't know they exist at this point.

I didn't get them until high school. But my kids school sent home an order form as soon as they hit kindergarten. I didn't order one that year b/c money was tight and it just didn't seem like something we needed. I ordered one last year and am glad I did. They are cute and i'm sure it will be fun to look back on in several years. That said, I only ordered one even though I have two kids. Its the exact same yearbook and seemed silly to order two. I could regret that decision in 15 years when they move out if they both decide they want to keep the yearbooks though

Mom of 2 - that's the thing. I feel the need to order one for each twin for when they are older. Then when #3 starts elementary I have to buy 3? That's $78 a year on yearbooks they may or may not care about.
