SOB
I love the original. The tarnish and visual is perfect. The after could be found in the Target clearance section. (Not that there's anything particularly wrong with that)
I would have polished up the original a little, but you're right it does look like it came from Target. That really defeats the purpose of going to a junk sale.
OMG I'm crying. I love Iheartorganizing however I feel like her home has become something that I would be uncomfortable in. It is too orderly and not lived in and homey.

I agree with all of this. She's a bit too Monica Gellar for my taste. I do appreciate that she recognized that she had too much Ikea and Target in her home, but this wasn't a step forward.
Part of my problem with that is that it was poorly done. The inside isn't fully painted, and the outside looks like it still has spray paint texture. Yuck. If it were all smooth and nicely finished I'd probably find it acceptable. As it is, it's just a tacky little piece. Bummer.
It's Annie Sloan's chalk paint, so it's supposed to be that texture. :N:

Why would someone use chalk paint on that?
I feel like every paint/finish/texture has a place, but this one does not work for this application. Not at all.
