Anyone else's FB blowing up with crackpots? My FB friends are usually rather sane, but there are a few posts from last night and this morning that I had to read twice because I was like "are you kidding me?" My cousin thinks the transcript and video where Obama used the phrase "acts of terror" have been faked by the White House. Faked! Like they went back and re-dubbed or re-shot the speech to add in those words. He insists that he recalls the exact wording of the speech from a month ago and that he never said it. I can't even process that.
And one of my DH's sensible friends has a crazy "Obama is a Muslim" friend or relative who is attacking him and all of his friends, including my DH. It's kind of nutty. It's not even debate, he's calling people douches and saying the drive Corvettes (they don't, also, what?) and telling them to butt out of his FB conversations (probably because he's being proven wrong). What in the hell? People are f'ed up.
I thought I had blocked all the crazies after the last debate. Apparently not.
The most obnoxious are from my rural republican conservative cousin, bitching about the Affordable Care Act as "socialism." Um, dude, you took over a million in farm subsidies last year. If you're so passionate about people being off government support, put your money where your mouth is.
I don't have too many FB friends like that (or who talk about politics at all).
But I also have a lot of people hidden on my newsfeed just for being obnoxious in general, so they could very well be spewing shit like this and I'm just not seeing it.
And I grew up/went to college in a very hardcore Democratic area and therefore most of my friends are from the same area, so most of the bashing I hear is typically against the Republicans anyway.

I have hidden so many people at this point that my FB feed is actually quite tame, I sould go check out some of my crazy in-laws to see if there is anything good.
My own BROTHER texted me that he wanted to punch the president in the face for being a liar and for interrupting Romney so badly. WTH?! He is not usually like that at all. This election is bringing out the very worst in people. I have lost complete respect for a number of people due to their FB posts. And I love the "Christians" who are voting for Romney because they are "godly people" and then calling Obama all sorts of truly terrible things. If they are the paragons of Christianity, then I'm Santa Claus.

This is the only political status worth noting on my newsfeed:
A lot of the people on my feed are from my hometown, which is a very red area. I've blocked most of the annoying people and I blocked two more last night. I honestly just want to be like "hey, no one gives a flying fuck." But I'm a nice person, so I don't do that.
its beyond ridiculous. People complaining about the system, saying crappy things about both and then flat out saying they won't vote since its BS. sigh. They are being blocked/hidden.
I do have some Republicans in my feed who post about politics, but they tend to be smart and well-informed so they don't bother me even though I don't agree with them.
I have a 1Y law student on my page who is so far up her own ass it makes me gag. she keeps trying to use vocabulary she's learning in her classes, and she posts WALLS of information on why every other voter is dumb and she just has a much clearer understanding on everything.
actually, typing this post made me realize I just need to delete her. done.

I have an uncle that's the same way. He always rants about how Obama is trying to make him pay for everyone's healthcare, but his whole family has been on medicaid for years. I also generally dislike people who bitch about what their taxes are paying for when their favorite time of the year is tax season so they can get their massive refund for shit they never paid to begin with...
Now I feel the need to go check out his page. Damn you MM.
A girl I went to hs with was very angry during the VP debate because she thought the moderator was Obama's "bedmate" (he attended her wedding or something). For someone who posts personal attacks on the regular, I thought her cries for fairness were ironic.
I have way too many Canadian Fb friends commenting on the debate and very few American Fb friends weighing in. Whats up with that? I bet these same Canadians skipped the Canadian debates.

Apparently I'm not friends with enough crazies, because I haven't seen anything this entertaining. I have one friend who occasionally posts pro-Obama stuff, which rallies his conservative friends to comment, but it always seems to devolve into talk about comic books.
Most of my friends are liberals like I am, so there have not been any anti-Obama/pro-Romney posts. I will say that I found it ironic that there are 2 people I know that "liked" the Romney Ryan page and I am pretty sure they were on welfare and might still be on welfare. wtf..
FB is pretty quiet so far. I have a BIL who is completely anti-Obama, I suspect for racism more than any other actual ideological reason. It's rare, but he does make the comment every week or so about how Obama wastes money and hasn't accomplished anything. The man is a union firefighter, his wife is a union teacher, and they have two young daughters. I seriously cannot understand how he can possibly rationalize voting pro-Romney.
