What exactly do you like about Harry & David? The fruit? The coffee? The pasta?
Dancing deer has yummy cookies, cakes and brownies. Edible arrangements has fruit. Crate & barrel should be coming out with their holiday gift line of food items soon.
Does it have to be chocolate/sweets? I've given Nueske's as gifts lots of times and it goes over well. Their meats and cheeses are good, and their bacon is AWESOME. They usually have coupon codes on RetailMeNot.com and oftentimes you get a free package of bacon with your order: www.nueskes.com/
Depending on who the gift is for, I've just ordered online groceries for someone. My friend halfway across the country had a baby, so I just loaded up a cart with things I wish I could drop off for her and made sure she knew to expect the delivery.

Its a thank you gift for our old neighbors, since our house just sold. They looked out for our house all summer while it was on the market (even getting up on the roof and cleaning the gutters, just to be nice to the new owners so they wouldn't have to do it!).
I will look at all of those, thanks.
The other thing I thought of was Costco. Does anyone have experience with their gift baskets?
