my sister had the Taurus X limited and loved it but now that her kids are a bit older and can both climb into their car seats on their own she traded it in for a town and country minivan.
plus i ride with them a lot so it's easier to get into the back back seat in the town and country than to climb over the middle seat in the taurus X.

it looks like it would be hard to get kids in the third row. I also would be worried about getting rear-ended and having kids there. It seems like a less of an issue with a MV since there is more cargo space between the third seat and back of vehicle.
you guys, don't define yourself by your car. get the minivan with the automatic doors and BE DONE WITH IT yes you will feel a little frumpy, but you will also love the convenience. I am a little tired of this constant back and forth (not you, OP, just in general on MM) of whether or not to get a minivan.
have 1 sexy car and 1 van. take turns with DH and drive the cute car on the weekends or whenever you run errands without the kids if you happen to be the one who drives the kids more often.
use the van for the convenience of kids, hauling huge purchases from lowe's/HD, carpooling with friends with kids and road trips, and be done with it
That car is not attractive. If that is the alternative, just get a van and enjoy the automatic sliding doors and extra room. I get that minivans are not cool. But, really, nothing that comfortably fits 3+ kids is. It is best to just give up and join the dark side.

You know, I felt like this until I realized how expensive the "good" minivans are. I truly had no clue that a new Honda or Toyota is $28k to $43k. HOW DO PEOPLE SPEND $43k ON A MINIVAN?!? Lol. I thought, let's spend $12k on a used minivan, and then we'll get a convertible in a year or two. Now that I realize we'll need to spend around $20k I'm having a harder time with it.
This is what I drove before kids, and as silly as it is, I am having a hard time about the minivan. I'll get over it, and we'll still save up so I can have a convertible again.
It's not about being defined by my car, but MAN, I loved driving that thing. It's more about the enjoyment of driving it.
This is what my minivan looks like. I am well aware that it is not cool, but I think it is more attractive than the car in the OP. But I also don't give a damn whether my car is cool and have never been a car person, so maybe I just don't get it.

It looks a lot like a minivan to me. And really, a minivan is just another vehicle. I know some people love vehicles and I fully admit to never being a big car person in the first place, but you couldn't pry my minivan away from me. Especially when I had 2 newborns and a just turned 2 year old. You can't beat it hands down! The automatic doors, the low to the ground, the roomy inside, etc. It's just a car, it's not you. I'm still a fun chick, I just happen to drive a minivan.

That's we have too-- same color and everything. :-) I think it's much better looking than the car in the OP.

This makes me chuckle - people get hung up on this "image" that a mini-van has. But, umm, what do you think having your KIDS with you does? We're worried about being frumpy, uncool, etc. Well... when you're toting your kids around, your just as "frumpy and uncool" whether you have a mini-van or not!
I don't care if people really don't want a mini-van, but the convienences just can't be beat.
And DH and I basically do the above- whoever has kid duty gets the van, whoever doesn't, gets the "cool" fun car to drive (which today is ME!).

You mean I'm not going to look cool with my giant diaper bag and 3-4 kids on baby leashes or in some giant ass stroller? Oh, and I look super cool wearing a baby in a Moby wrap, lol.
Just don't let me become just like my parents and buy one of those huge conversion vans - you know, the ones with shades on the windows and a tv with a dvd player and x-box. My parents bought one of these when I was in high school and I about died. I came home from a friends house one day and saw my parents sitting in the back of the van in the driveway watching a movie - because they thought it was cool. They tried to make me learn to drive in that thing, but after about 10 minutes on my first attempt I pulled over, got out, and said I'd rather just not learn to drive because I couldn't see out and the thing was huge.
Oh, and I'm an only child. Why my parents felt they needed a conversion van is beyond me. They traded in the minivan for the conversion van, lol.
