So I pretty much suck at having food on hand. I don't cook and don't really snack and all that much. When I have had guests in the past it was my mom or two BFFs, who know I suck at that and love me anyway.
I have a friend coming into town this weekend. We aren't that close, so I feel like I need to be a better hostess than I am to the others. I'm starting to stress out on what to have for her. Not only food wise, but just like stuff in the extra bathroom and bedroom. Can you ladies (and JM) give any suggestion?
The thing is that sometimes when you ask them what they want, they are too shy to actually say what they like.
Buy a lot of snacks or you could always do a quick stop at the store with her, well, depending on how long she is staying.
Yes! I know I have done that in the past. I plan on just getting some chips, pretzels like that. I usually don't eat anything for breakfast, so I am not sure what to do for that. I figure just some bfast bars or something like that.
Hopefully like Mint said we'll be out of the house mostly.

Are you planning on preparing meals or are you just asking about snacks? Breakfasts are easy too, if you don't want to cook just get some yummy muffins and coffee and juice. For snacks, does she eat healthy or junk? That would really be a contributing factor on what to get!
In the bathroom have some nice towels, tolietries
Put a few magazines and a book by the bed and a couple of bottled waters. Leave an extra blanket and pillow. Put a chocolate on her pillow.
K, I am a dork and admit it. But I buy sample sizes of everything from deodorant to shampoo to toothpaste and put it in the bathroom. Then, I buy a bunch of snacks foods like cracker packs and fruit, and put it in the basket in the spare bedroom. A lot of people are too embarrassed to say when they want a snack, but if it's in their room and they know it's for them, they are more inclined to enjoy it.
If you want to go all out (which I usually do) a guest robe and slippers, a fresh towel or two every day, and a change of sheets set at the foot of the bed are nice touches. I also add a laundry basket and a small box of laundry detergent so they know (without having to ask) that they are welcome to use my laundry room. Of course, I go more all out for people who are less familiar guests. If it's my mom, I just tell her to ask if she needs anything. She does not get the royal treatment!
