Ok this is not that exciting of a post but I have been doing SPX pilates for 4 years now. Ive always wanted to be an instructor. The training is 2k and I dont really have the money right now but I feel like I really need to do something for myself and have a focus outside of work. I would be certified by end of November and be able to teach classes and make some $$ back.
It would be a decent e fund still but its a mental thing of touching it. I built it up VERY slowly after my divorce but this is something I really want
If you have the money in your efund, and will still have money in there after wards, I'd say do it!
It sounds like something you want to do. An if it brings in extra money you can put that money bag into your efund until you have the $2000 "paid off". An use the money after that for you stuff!

why did you say you would have to go into debt for it then?
If you have the money and you know you would enjoy it go for it. Have you ever taught anything before? I would try out teaching in some sort of volunteer way first before I invested the money. I tried to get my masters in teaching and in my first class realized it wasn't for me

I would totally do it, especially since the next class isn't until next spring, and you could easily have made that money back by then when you are teaching. Sounds exciting!!
p.s. I'm sad a lot too when I think about not being a Mom, you're not alone!

To me touching my Efund feels like using money I dont really "have".
I havent really taught anything but I dont know what I would volunteer at to get this type of experience. Im good friends with all of the instructors and they think I would be a good fit. Im outgoing and love working with people.
I could also pawn my diamond tennis bracelet from EXH. Its my last piece of jewelry from him but I think its probably worth 1k.
Pawn that Sh!t and do something for yourself with it! Then you're really "owing" yourself half of it...and can earn it back. You never know until you try it and it sounds like your current job situation sucks. It could be worth exploring a new route!

I would call studios in the area and find out if there's a need first. I'd hate for you to do it and not be able to find a job.
I was a spinning instructor and it also costs money for continuing education classes for certifications. You may also be required to get CPR or other certifications for a studio or carry professional liability insurance on your own if they studio won't pay for it.
Just some thoughts.
Yeah I totally thought of this and have talked to 3 local studios who have all said the same thing that they are always "looking" for instructors.
I didnt think about the insurance though and will follow up on that! Thanks
