Also. It's not that he was unproductive in couples therapy. The therapist was a piece of shit. We'd spend every session talking exclusively about his anxiety and how he felt about things. Never about how it affected us as a couple. And then the bitch tried to double bill me for two individual sessions instead of one couples' session. I threatened to report her for insurance fraud and never heard from or saw her again.
We haven't seen anyone else because he isn't a fan of therapy and I already see my own IC. And he has Kaiser.
That's cute nama. Are you hosting Thanksgiving? You could show them off
Not hosting just love crafts and decorating for holidays hahaha
We are spending Thanksgiving with my family since it is my brothers last Christmas before he is a rookie cop with no holidays. Haven't seen FIL in awhile so we may invite him over for an early turkey day dinner.
I love decorating for the holidays too. If I could figure out how to PIP from my phone I'd share my Halloween mantle!
Did anyone just watch House Hunters? This couple bought a vacation home in Philly, and they live about 30 minutes away in Jersey.
Ummm that is slightly moronic to me...what about the Caribbean?? Europe? No??? 30 mins is the max we'll travel for vacay!
They said they go every weekend anyway, and like to eat out a lot. It was a very weird episode. They had a very small budget and wanted to live in Center City (downtown Philly). I think the place they ended up getting was right on the border between a safe area and a not so safe area.
Nama - cute! You could make everyone a hand turkey for Thanksgiving!

I mean, their money. But I agree that's weird. To me it even seems wasteful, but I guess the logic is they save on hotels or something??

I kind of get a vacation house 30 minutes away. It's cheap to get to, and you could go for a weekend and head out after work on Friday and be back at work on Monday. As opposed to somewhere that you'd pay hundreds of dollars to get to. KWIM?
And Berbs - that sounds like good news to me, about the therapist! That seems to suggest you could find a new on and he'd be willing to go try again, right? It wasn't like it was bad between you two, just a poor therapist.
Berbs, You will have FB PM here in a second, okay? I want to give you a big ((hug)). I really do. I didn't see your post, but tell your H I'll throw him in the Bay and let the sharks have him!
My legs are sore and swollen and I dunno what the fuck H is doing.

Ooooohhhh skippingstones you are cruel! Let's not forget the Bay is fuckingfreezing and there's great whites! But I do suppose he deserves his untimely demise for his poor behavior...
I did a LOT of walking today. MIL is almost finished building her house so she needs furniture. I was bored so I went with her. She's getting a nice sectional, a new bed and a chaise lounge for her room. Unfortunately, I did a LOT of walking. My legs do NOT handle well when I walk a lot. Oh and then H decided to make me pretty much sprint across Home Depo because he's 6' tall and I'm 5'5..I have short legs and his are long. I pretty much run to keep up with him sometimes.
I'm late to the party - I just woke up from a nap :-) Now husband is cooking dinner and I am watching Shark Tank and GBCNing.
I'm exhausted because I stayed up until 2 or 3am making cake pops for a bake sale at work. After expenses and all of the time I put in, I probably made about $2/hr profit. LOL....
Sorry your husband is being a jerkface right now Berbles. TTC can be extremely stressful (even without other stressors in life) and it is easy to go down that road.

No way! They are SO not the same :-) You have to mix the cake with frosting to get that gooey inside. The cake pop machines can't do that, so you just get a cakey inside.
You're a NorCal-er, right? Once we all get pregnant, we'll plan a get together. I'll bring some good cake pops and you'll see.

TRUTH.
Purpleme, the hardest part is the candy melt shell. Candy melts can be hard to work with.

Ya'll are haters!!! lol Cake pops can still be awesome with the machine! I dip mine in chocolate and use a moist cake batter, so they taste nice I swear...I'm not too big on frosting, maybe that's why I think they're fine the way I make them. Or I'm in denial! Cali gtg when pg for sure and cake pop presentation That'd be really fun.
Hi! Jewel! I've never attempted to make cake pops! I really wanna give them a try! Any tips you can give us that have never tried to make them? TIA!
Sure! I'll give you a little lesson:
- Bake a box of cake, any flavor you fancy - Let the cake cool, then break up into chunks and put it in your mixer (can mix by hand, if you have to) and add 3/4 of a container of frosting. Mix. It should look doughy. - Let mix cool completely in the fridge - Use a small scooper or spoon to scoop even size balls. Roll in your hands so that they are even and round. Put on silicone baking mat (or parchment paper) on a cookie sheet or cutting board and put in the freezer - If you're sticking lollipop sticks into them, do this before you freeze. Dip the stick in a little bit of melted chocolate first, so that it will stick to the cake - Freeze overnight! (or longer)
To Dip/decorate: - I do not use melting chips, but many people do - they are easier to work with - For white chocolate, I use almond bark - For any other type of chocolate (semi-sweet, milk, dark, etc), I use chocolate chips - Melt chocolate in the microwave, 45 seconds at a time on half power, and stir in between - When it is about halfway melted, add a teaspoon or so of vegetable or canola oil and mix in (NOT if you are using melting chips, only choco chips or almond bark) - To color white chocolate, you must use oil candy color or powdered color. You CANNOT use food coloring or frosting color. It will seize the chocolate. - Dip your pop in the chocolate, tap a few times on the side, and twirl to even out the chocolate - If you are adding sprinkles or anything, do it very quickly. Chocolate will harden within 15 seconds or so - Let the pops set in fridge
General tips: - Search google images for ideas on holidays, themes, etc. if you want to get fancy - Amazon and ebay have the best prices on lollipop sticks, bags, candy color, flavoring, and other supplies - It takes at least a few batches to get the hang of dipping them nicely. Don't worry, they still taste amazing, even if they look a little messy.
Have fun! They are always a big hit at parties, especially with kids. People will eat anything on a stick.
Wow, I never knew cake pops were so involved. I've only had one once (and, confession, really didn't care for it all that much), but should I see one again, I'll be sure to thank the baker appropriately for all her effort!

Oh please! I can't hate on anything involving cake and chocolate! :-)
I'm just saying that my way is better
We'll have a cake pop blind taste test competition. I'll take applications for judges. Sounds like a pg dream come true.

hahaha Well let's just hope we're all pg around the same time! (ie SOON) Otherwise I will humbly gtg with you and Berbs while you are knocked up if you don't judge me while I drink in sorrow in your presence. :-( Well, drink, and eat all the cake pops...!
I'm SO late to join this convo. I guess it's part of being 5-8 hours ahead of you guys in the States. All the fun stuff happens when I'm asleep, and by the time I wake up I've missed it and all of you are in bed.
Berbles, I missed your post, but whatever it is, I hope it gets better. My first husband and I were in and out of counseling our whole marriage, and we had one particularly shitty counselor. I'll spare you the details, but let's just say I blame her for a lot of things, including the fact that we're not married anymore. She was THAT bad. So maybe you can find a better counselor out there. I know you're going through a lot of stressful stuff right now....
RE cake pops....AMAZING. I've never actually eaten a cake pop (I don't really like cake that much), but I think I would like those. Not sure I'm motivated to try it myself...but maybe I'll make some and then just take them into work. Those boy will eat anything.
