After deciding on a Forrester we got to the dealer on Friday and changed our minds. We ended up with a Subaru Outback Special Edition. Very fancy. They gave us a good deal on the mini. Sad to see her go. But Paddy is much happier to have a larger car.
Congrats! What made you decide to switch. These are two on a list we are considering w/i the next year.
Front seat passenger leg space. It may sound like a strange reason. When I got in the passenger seat and moved it back I felt like it should go back further and there wasn't a lot of room to stretch my legs. I'm short so it's fine for me. But I told H to check it out and see if he would be happy or uncomfortable on long trips. He said the mini had more leg room and was more spacious than the Forrester was. The Outback is a longer car and there was more room for him to stretch his legs.

This is good to know. Was there a huge price difference? We need to buy soon...
We have to get something new, but cargo is our driving force. The Tribeca is on our list, because everyone who has a Subaru loves them in a crazy passionate way but the Tribeca starts at 10k more.
Generally the Outbacks are about 4-5K more than a Forrester we actually got a pretty decent deal on the Outback.
We didn't look at the Tribeca we were trying to stay under $30K, we ended up at $32K but got a good deal on our trade-in. We haven't put anything in the cargo area yet but between the space available and being able to put the seats down I can't see us having any problems. Of course my point of reference is having a mini previously that had 0 cargo space so anything is a giant improvement.
