How is it determined how long you say the wait is for a table?
We went to the Ram in Federal Way on Friday. They told us the wait was 25 minutes. We ended up waiting just over an hour. I understand that it's not an exact science as you have to wait for other people to decide to leave, but I was just wondering why they were so far off. If we would have known it was an hour +, we would have gone elsewhere.

We estimate 2 minutes per name. However a lot of restaurants don't want to quote over a certain time or they will have people leave and go elsewhere.
Going over depends on a lot of things, waiting on tables to leave, size of party, and special seating requests. Even on Saturday when we had huge parties for homecoming, I don't think most people waited more than 45 minutes.
we estimate 1 min per name. it really depends though. if it's a saturday night and it's a party of 7 or more, you may end up waiting 2+ hours becuase we have to clear out tables for you to sit. we have booths that can fit 7 comfortably and you could stuff morep eople, but generally it really depends. if we have 30 people on our wait and we have 20 sets of 2, we're probably going to tell 1-2's 20-30 mins, 3-4 30-40 mins, 5-6 40-50 mins.. but it reallly depends. if it was just the 2 of you, i can't imagine you should have had to wait that long. and being quoted 25 and waiting an hour, unless you are a party of 7 or more, i can't EVER see that happening at my place.

Yeah, we were pretty put off. Plus, poor Tman was hungry. Finally like five minutes before they sat us, someone brought out some carrot sticks for him. My steak was raw, too. This place is new and doesn't have it together yet for sure.

We went there when it first opened and my "medium" burger was like charcoal. We will probably stick to red robin from now on
