We had no preference. Before getting pregnant I always wanted a girl, but once I became pregnant, I was completely indifferent. My husband is very compassionate. Not sure if that's the best way to describe him? Manly, yet gentle. I knew he would be amazing with a boy or a girl. He kept saying he would be thrilled with either sex.
But - the minute the doctor got a good view and told us the sex, he lightly smacked my feet (he was sitting by my feet) and totally lit up. He had a huge smile on his face, and I had tears running down mine. It was an awesome experience.
I thought that picking out boy clothes would be the one downfall to having a boy. I didn't think boy clothes would be as fun. Well, I just placed my first order with Janie & Jack, and we have some dapper clothing in our future!
I'm going to be the mother of a son. It's all so real now!
During the ultrasound he kept putting his hand in his mouth, and the other up by his ear. They had a 4D machine which was awesome, so I walked away with some good pictures.
I told my husband he now has the perfect excuse to buy that Lego pirate ship he has eyed around Christmas time the last few years at Toys R Us, haha.
how wonderful! great reaction from your husband! will you get any more ultrasounds do you think?
also not to creep you out but I totally felt like you were going to have a boy.
I have a fetal echocardiogram in 2 weeks because of my own congenital heart problems. The heart is still a little too small to see the valves, flow, etc., clearly enough.
Then I go back in 5 weeks to see the perinatologist again. She's the one who did today's ultrasound. Not sure if that will be a regular appointment or ultrasound, though. I think it depends on how the fetal echo goes, and how I'm doing thus far.
Congratulations on your little guy! All my friends have had boys recently and I have found that there are so many cute things for boys now! It's been so much fun.

Congratulations!! Little boys are really fun.
I will also echo Kari with the Baby Gap recommendation. Sometimes they have meh collections, but often their stuff is adorable. We've also had good luck with H&M for fun pieces and good solid basics at reasonable prices.
Congrats!! Having a boy is tons of fun! Go check out peanutposh.com and order a few super cute neckties for when he is a little bit older! Boy shopping can be really fun!
