It was some kind of pulley. It was an easy on site fix. He said that if I would have let it go, it could have been a very costly repair. Awesome news.
Even better news, the only "proof of purchase" I had was a credit card statement that said a purchase was made 11/18/2011 at lowes - no details. He took my word for it and didn't charge me!!!
Since he was so gracious and since we have sucky luck with washers, I bought a 2 year parts and labor warranty from him that is the same price as the service trip charge that he didn't charge me.
hrm :/ I'll tell H. He was complaining he had just fixed the dryer and now was going to have to figure out what's wrong and how to fix the washer. I told him I thought it was sexy that he fixed the dryer and that made him smile at least
