We went to the vet tonight for a repeat red blood draw. The vet we saw on Monday is on vacation so we saw someone else.
The good news is that her red blood count went from 14 to 28! Which is awesome. He said he wants a full repeat panel done next week and if she continues to improve he will start tapering her meds.
The bad-ish news is that the vet tonight didn't seem convinced it was IMHA. Both vets had asked if she could have gotten into rat poison which is not possible. When I asked the vet tonight why he thought it was "strange" he said that she didn't have the normal presentation and that normally with IMHA the bloodwork shows 2 specific levels to be low. In her case, one level was low and one was normal. I guess I would just feel better if they were 100% convinced of what she has. I am worried that she is misdiagnosed or that they are missing something.
I may wait until they do the repeat panel and then take her to a fairly local university which has a highly vet school for a second opinion.
Thanks everyone for the support!! It really meant alot...

So glad she's improving! If I remember correctly where you are, I think you're talking about A&M vet school. If so, I highly suggest them, even just to confirm the diagnoses. I think though that you have to have a referral from your vet (or maybe that was just for the spinal issue that I took my girl in for). Anyway, they were fantastic, and SO SO nice. They fixed my girl up perfectly!

Lots of hugs to you and tummy rubs to your pup!
Thanks!
Actually, Cornell University. I am in NY.
Sorry! For some reason I was thinking you were in Texas. Maybe my diet coke hasn't kicked in yet!!
Well, it sounds like good news! Hoping she just had a health blip and continues to recover. ((Hugs to you and her!))
All of this. I'm so glad you got some good news and really hope that she has a speedy recovery! Thanks for updating, I was wondering how things were going.
