When did you ditch the crib? What age?
I am already worried that Layla is getting close to falling out never mind if she actually tried to climb. She has 2 blankets she must sleep with, and when she stands on them, it is close.
I think we have 2-3 mths but, I kinda wish we bought a taller crib.

With DS it was around 16-18 months. It was a twin bed with bed rails. He would have been fine before that, he was never a kid to get out of bed. He might wake up in the middle of the night and cry in bed, but he never wandered the house
My niece just turned 1, and she can climb in her crib, but so far has not climbed out. I think my sil is crazy to keep her in the crib, she is totally going to climb out in the middle of the night some time soon and get hurt, she is a monkey.
I err on the side of getting them out sooner, but like I said, neither of mine have left their bed, so I didn't have to deal with that. But I would put her on a mattress on the floor or toddler bed or whatever, then just put a baby gate in her doorway, if you are worried about that. And baby proof the crap out of her room.
We did it at about 16 months. It is awesome. She is in a mattress on the floor and her room is childproofed completely, so often when she wakes up she will play quietly by herself for up to an hour before asking for us or trying to get out (she can open the door even with the childproof knob cover so we lock her in at night for safety reasons).

At 13 months we switched to the toddler bed setup on her crib & at 2 years we put a full size mattress on the floor for her.
She could climb on top of the crib rail, so we had moved her before she fell. The full is so that one of us can lay with her instead of her coming into our bed.
Ugh. I'm dreading this. I think that we're going to try to switch before baby comes. Dd will be 23 mos at the time. She's not a climber but she does constantly move in her crib at night.
Around 18 months we converted the crib to the toddler bed with rail. About two.months later my mom gifted him a twin bed with box spring and frame. We bought a bed rail, but it was too high for him to climb in and out with the frame. We put the box spring and mattress on the floor, but still use the bed rail. He is probabaly at the point now (almost 3) bwjere we could put the frame back
We switched to a toddler bed at 2 since DS could easily climb out. We baby proofed the room and locked him in. He slept on the floor for 3 weeks since he had no interest in sleeping in his bed.
Have you tried a sleep sack for toddlers? This bought a few more months of crib time since he couldn't climb out with his sleep sack on.
DS was over 3. He could get out, but only did it once. DD is 19 months and shows no signs of trying to climb out. We'll buy a crib for baby 3 before we try to kick her out.
How tall is she? You have it on the absolute lowest setting? The lowest setting on my crib is like, a foot from the floor. She would have to lift her leg up over her head to get out.
This exactly. I dont think a 4 yr old could climb out of our crib.
DS was 2 (maybe about 2 years and 2 months). We only did it because we needed to vacate the crib for the next baby. Otherwise, I would have left DS there indefinitely and I don't think he would have climbed out on his own for another year or more.
We moved him to a twin sized boxspring and mattress on the floor. The transition went fine.
We just switched this last week about 21 months. In part in anticipation of new baby and part because he wasn't wanting to go down in the crib as easy and the one night I got frustrated and pulled his mattress out and he slept on that on the floor was our best in awhile. Ordered the bed rail the next day.
