My mom has never provided childcare for us but she has gone through cancer treatments for non-Hodkins lymphoma. My mom was in the early stages too and in my experience it could take a long time for her to be feeling up for it. I would make full time arrangements which would ease the expectations for your mom and provide your LO with routine.

I would do the MWF spot at your H's work, if you think that will work better long term. I woudl *also* get on the waitlist for the FT spot at the other place.
For the other 2 days, hire a sitter if it comes to that. My mom had major surgery but no chemo/radiation after her stage 1 diagnosis. Assuming you have 18-20 weeks of pg left, plus 12 weeks of leave, I bet your mom will be ok to watch the baby by then. And if not you will have plenty of time to hire a sitter.
I would probably go w/ the FT slot. As far as the "routine" - Eh, that's not my concern. DS had a nanny and also my parents and ALSO DH on the days he didn't work. Now, it's preschool, daycare, my parents and my DH - while a little crazy, there is still a "routine" to it and DS is used to it. I don't think daycare 3 days and a nanny 2 days is a big deal if you do decide to go that route.
