I think this is one of those things that the bump extrapolates into a BIG DEAL when it's really not. I just picked an outfit I got from my shower that I liked.
I got a pink 3 piece set (pants, sweater, hat) for $3 and a pink monkey onesie for $5, both from Target. We'll bring both and see which one fits. Since she'll be born in mid December, I'm more worried that she'll be warm tan fashionable.
I have no idea what DS wore. Maybe just hospital-provided clothes? I don't remember going home from the hospital with him at all, but I was still pretty sick and out of it - I think most people probably remember the going home.

This, exactly. The outfits I received as gifts were more 'special' than most of the things I bought for everyday wear, if that makes sense, so I chose one I received from my mom that was comfortable and cute for his 'going home' outfit.
He wore whatever they put him in in the hospital. A onesie and a sleep sack, maybe? I honestly don't remember, it wasn't a huge deal to me. I was too busy freaking out about what the hell I was going to do when I was home and had to take care of a baby without any nurses to help me...lol.
Don't forget they can't wear anything thicker than a heavy fleece in the car seat, no puffy coats, or snowsuits. In an accident the down compresses and the baby flies out of the straps. You can get covers for the car seat to keep them warm.
